jasdlm
Taxpayer was on an exchange between Universities. He was paid by his home University but working for part of the year in IN. The W2 is from the home University with withholding only in the home State. Do I need to file an IN return and try to apportion the income, or can I just file the home state since there is no IN source income? KINGCHUCK1971
No since he didn't earn income from the state of IN he will not have to file a IN return. He will have to file a return still for his home state.
jasdlm
Thanks so much! One gets so tired this time of year, it's hard not to second-guess everything.
