HV Ken
How does an individual obtain an ITIN in order for a business to issue them a 1099-MISC ? The ITIN application appears to want to be attached to a 1040 tax return, but before the tax return can be filed, they would need the 1099-MISC, but there is no ITIN in order to provide the 1099-MISC.......... Thanks!
kcjenkins
You simply prepare the 1099MISC with the name and address, and amount, and in the space for the SSN/ITIN you put 'applied for'. Or Unavailable, if you prefer. The IRS will process it. just the same.
