When I put a new toner cartridge in, the water mark would be very plain, but after a while, it would suddenly get very light even though the cartridge still had a good bit of toner left in it. When I put a new cartridge in it, it suddenly reappeared. It seems the amount of toner in the cartridge may have something to do with it. I was using a Brother HL 2040 printer at the time.
