  1. I never knew this one .... thought I would share. Veterinary costs for a service dog are deductible medical expenses, IRS says. Ditto for amounts paid to purchase and train the dog plus food and grooming. These animals assist the visually impaired and others who have physical disabilities, so the owners can write off the costs of buying and caring for their dogs on Schedule A to the extent total medicals exceed 10% of adjusted gross income…7.5% if 65 or older.

  2. You could have left it like it was - it made sense. But now that you made the change, you have two more edits to make (subject and verb), if you want agreement between them and the plural object.

  3. In my formative years of practice I recall a very similar situation where the client intimated that I omitted a form 1099. I had to admit my fault but was quite reticent about the omission. I resolved the matter by filing amended returns and paying all penalties and interest. This was prior to scanning and copying so I developed my personal internal controls. Every piece of physical information that I received from the client was marked with a red pencil checkmark by me. Believe it or not I had a client subsequently attempt to blame me for omitting multiple documents. I simply asked them to find the original document and see if they had a red pencil checkmark on them! End of story. Today I scan all documents still using the red pencil checkmark. 4. I just got an e-mail from a client that had received a CP2000 about two missing W-2s from their 2013 tax return Looked up the return, checked copies of W-2s, not there. Informed client I had no copies of said w-2s and they did not appear to be on the return. It looked to me like they owed the tax. Just got a subsequent e-mail from client, I don't have W-2s but know I worked there, guess I will pay the tax, P & I. Good end to story.
