  1. I had an awesome cat (thought he was a dog) greeter that managed to hit enough buttons that the computer crashed and restarted. I am relatively sure that he did not know how to use Alt Control Delete, but he was very smart.

  2. I'm coming in on the tail end of this. I logged into EFPTS during the first week of October and had no issues, notices, memos or email. Already setup with ID.me as well. Yes, it seems to be an inconvenience but to further protect the information that is already there is a welcomed idea. I think we all should have been better informed.

  3. The existing login information for EFTPS still works as usual. The only difference is that you can't get access to EFTPS login until you identify yourself with ID.me or Login.gov. They just want to know who is logging into EFTPS before granting you access. As long as you have ID.me or Login.gov, you're fine. If you don't have one of those, then you'll need to sign up for one or the other of them before you try to access EFTPS at any time in the future.

  5. I also seem to have a couple of these clients every year, most retired on a fixed income. I always tell them that, even if they can't pay, to file the return. It's not going to go away by ignoring it and will only get worse. I explain the failure to file penalty of 5% per month of the amount owed, 1/2% a month failure to pay penalty, and the interest. I then urge them (and offer to help them) to set up an installment plan to stop the penalties. I like to follow up the discussion with an email to document that we had the discussion so they can't come back and say I didn't inform them.

  6. You don't need an attorney. You need a Patient Advocate or a Health Care Advocate to help your daughter navigate the system.

  7. So sorry for your loss. I had a "greeter" cat for many years and most clients looked forward to seeing him every year. Only problem is he liked to sit on my lap when I was preparing returns and if I wasn't paying the appropriate amount of attention to him, depending on his mood, he would start tapping on the keyboard, making for some interesting results.
