Today I have gotten a couple of emails for orders that have been accepted by the IRS. Yesterday I got emails saying they had been submitted.
i received a bunch of emails from them today also. they do not seem to be going in order of submission.. some newer filed ones were marked completed and older filed ones still show pending.

@Catherine have you submitted any for tax year 2023? all mine still show In Process under the order history tab.

@Catherine hi caterhine.. have you submitted any yet this year.. i have a lot.. one client told me they gave me the wrong amount. i have to void that and issue a corrected one but that only stands true if efilemyforms has not processed them yet.. the status at the website still the 1099 to be in the transferred mode.. i was going to void it.. do you agree that i can still void it as of now, 01.06.24? thank you

What do you do if a client terminates an employee or an employee quits this week?
Which is why I always wait.
most of my clients pay on a friday.. two week cycle.. so the checks dated 12.29.23 were for hours worked for the two weeks ending 12.23.23. if someone quit say today, 12.28.23 any hours worked from 12.24.23 to the day they quit get paid on the payroll dated in 2024

been renewed with you for months.. I have almost all year end payroll tax filings done for my clients.

catherine. say a year from now.. tax year 2024, due in early 2025, will i be able to access the same filers and recipients that i just entered or do i have to start from scratch a year from now and enter names and addresses, etc again or does the site allow you to access previously used filers and recipients and just edit as needed and insert new dollar amounts? thank you.

just filed four 1099s for tax year 2023 at efilemyforms.com.. I figured it out and it went pretty smooth.. I tried to sign up at the irs site to efile from there but could never get registered so I went this route as the new efile mandate is in force.

I just got an email from eFileMyForms stating that 2023 forms are now available. At the least, you can go play, put in your vendors and their contractors. Until you save, put in cart, and check out, nothing happens.
thanks.. got the same email!

Form 1096 is only used when you paper file the 1099s.
thanks!

You can do either. Each 1099 gets added to your cart, and you can check out at once with all of them. Got info for two, and that customer needs to confirm the ssn/ein or amount for the last contractor? Get the two done, go back later for the third.
one last question.. if i am working on a single payor.. i check out two 1099 NECs.. then the next day the client gives me one more recipient. i check out.. does that mess up the 1096 or is the 1096 a non-issue?

Probably on January 2nd. I've never had a problem filing 1099s or W2s very early in January.
let's say working on ABC Inc's 1099s.. say they have three 1099-NEC's. Do you check out those three 1099's at that time or do you check out multiple payors at one time?

referring to "information returns" 1099s, w-2s etc

with the new lower efile mandate, looking at sites that can efile without using the IRS system (still cannot create an account there) but my question is has anyone used efilemyforms.com and if so, do you like it?

id.me seems to be much more common and i read that login.gov is not as secure as id.me.

I worked in audit for a big CPA right out of college. A lot of it was tracing numbers from one source/report to another. It was terrible work. I am so glad I am on my own now doing taxes and small business accounting and payroll.

I also replied to this topic on another thread. I've been trying to get into BSO for a month with no luck. I go through the whole verification process using log.gov and then instead of taking me to BSO, it takes me to my personal Social Security account. When I called customer support they told me to try id.me instead of log.gov. I tried to go through the id.me validation process but I don't have a smart phone. You need a smart phone to get validated by id.me. I only have to do W2s for two employees. I'm considering just using a site like pdffiller next year. It just amazes me that they could activate this new login procedure without having all the bugs worked out.
@Gloucestermanany progress getting in to BSO. I still cannot get in.. I received in the mail an SSA with my extra security number and I still cannot get in. I tried login.gov and I tried id.me and all it does it send me in a loop with an error.

I had a car wash client.. owned a laser car wash.. two single member LLCs set up. one for the car wash itself/ equipment and one for the building. The car wash LLC paid rent to the real estate LLC.. it was overturned in audit, saying self employment tax was skipped out on.. I have been subsequently told the IRS audit could have been challenged. This was my one and only time I sumitted a claim to my professional liability insurance in 30 years.
