You know this is somehow going to end up in the tax return and in our hands.............
Debt forgives from that law will not be taxable nor reportable.

Follow the dependent rules and file accordingly. Don't worry about the $1,400 because that's based on years and/or issues that don't have anything to do with the parents' return.
Identity theft will not change the facts on 2021 parents' return either.

Maybe spouse got it the previous year and was renewed semi automatically. Was her marital status changed in the last couple of years?

MD and DC have reciprocal agreements so filing as a resident or non-resident will have the same effect.
Just for fun, did the wife die a few weeks before him and lived in the house in MD? That could make him a MD resident, right?

If the original 1040 was efiled, you are allowed to efile 1040X. I would create 1040 exactly as it was filed. Then I would select amend return, make the changes and create the efile file. Then efile.

If you are a payroll processor, I think the client doesn't instruct you to NOT file a W2 if you processed paychecks for an individual. I think it is your responsibility to file those forms with the amounts you have on records.

How much is the K-1 for?
I would wait for the bill to come if not a lot.

I think the new company needs to amend the first quarter. They are lucky to have access to January payroll information but they don't know if paychecks were issued because they didn't issue them. The old company correctly filed when they had records and shouldn't be bothered. Also, who will be more inclined to help? The payroll company that was fired or the payroll company that is still receiving payments from the employer?

I think we should encourage our clients to register with the SSA and make sure they have the correct information for each year. I check mine every year and it seems to be correct.

If I am not mistaken, it clears the nanosecond you click submit. That's the beauty of "the new banking system".

Does he use all 6 at the same time? The rule states you cannot use five or more simultaneously.
So for example if he had five vehicles, four used all the time but kept one as a spare he would be allowed to continue using actually expense method.
I think it is the other way around. He can use the actual expenses method if he had 1 or 7 cars. He cannot use the mileage method if he has 6 cars being used simultaneously.

I have been using mileage on 4 vans for a construction contractor. In September he bought a 5th car and immediate was put in service. Same thing for the 6th car purchased in November.
I now have to use actual cost. What do I do with the other cars in order to move them from mileage to actual expenses?
Since my client is forced to move to actual expenses, I think any reasonable solution might work.
Will it be different if I move to actual expenses a client with only 2 cars?

I had two clients that got it in minutes. I am not sure if they had an account already or if there is an easy way of getting it. Both of my clients used a computer too.

Client could try to retrieve her 2021 IP PIN from the IRS tool to verify it and to make sure it is the one for the year you are trying to file.
What information is required to retrieve an IP PIN if client lost their letter? I think they need to create and account and that takes time, correct?
I do need to retrieve one because I hate to mail 1040s these days/years.

30? Is that too old to be qualified kid for HOH status? Is the kid disabled? Thank you!
Age doesn't have anything with HOH, neither does disability. Disability plays a roll for EIC.

Efile and if form 8962 is needed, it will be rejected within 8 hours

I love the question in your title. I always joke to my friends when they phrase it that way.
The answer to your question is 5.

Efile both with and at the same time mail both X filings with the "already-claimed" child.

It reads "the return submitted contains a duplicate SubmissionID. Recreate this return to assign a new SubmissionID and retransmit it.
This is for an FTB- 568 that I sent with the 1040. What do I need to do to fix it?
I have only seen this when filing 941 forms. Once you file the first quarter, the second quarter keeps part of the first id number and that causes the rejection. I used to delete the form and recreate them a few times until a new number was generated. I don't recall exactly.

Let's get some rest and wait for the next tax season. As much as we hate tax season, it comes with some $$$ that are missed later in the year. I am going on vacation in three weeks and for the last two weeks, I have thought about my coming vacation when tired.

Thank you.
It seems MD has a website for $1,000 and another for $5,000 but it is a website and not a tax form. Thank you for your replies.

I read that MD gives 26% of Federal Solar Credit. Do you know what form I need to enter the information in order to claim MD Solar Energy credit?

It is all or nothing. We are talking computers here.
Think about it: The computer says: Pay me $2,000 and the other computer says: "denied"... it might be nice enough to say "denied because of lack of funds". The bank will never say, I only have $1,250 on this account because it was not asked that... neither did the client authorize the IRS to inquire the bank about his balance.

So, if I want to partner with the owner of ABC, LLC and I invest $10K from my 21 month interest free credit card, ABC, LLC will get a 1099-K?
