  1. Nope, you can't right click on this list, so that won't work to print it.
  2. I can't seem to get this list to print this year. I have tried both ways - running the error report and printing from there and also tried to hit the print button and printing from there - but no luck printing either way - just get a blank sheet. Thoughts on this, please. Probably something simple!
  3. Thank you very much. When I do the x-college student's return this year, since he did not get a stimulus check last year as he was a dependent, will he be entitled to any credit this year?
  4. Yes, the taxpayer did get the stimulus check last year - $300. so does the taxpayer get an additional credit this year?
  5. I just want to make sure I am figuring this credit correctly. In 2007 client was hh with one dependent, college student, taxable inc of $11,943 but with educational credits - not tax due so rec'd $300 stimulus check. In 2008 client is filing single with no dependents - college student graduated. Taxable income of $15,425, no credits so tax due of $1,913. In figuring the worksheet it shows credit of $300. I believe this is correct, even though there are not qualifying children in 2008. Am I correct? Thanks

    E-filing 1099's

Thanks - I had input 17 of them and the program automatically entered acct. numbers, then I closed the program and added 2 more and the program didn't give them acct. numbers, but I did give them numbers and now I could create the e-files.

    E-filing 1099's

I am preparing our firms 1099-S's and when I try to create an e-file I receive error that says transferor #18 and #19 have duplicate or vague tax id numbers. For multiple errors, enter unique account numbers. Yes, they are the same transferor so yes they DO have the same tax id numbers. How can I create these 1099's to be able to e-file them? Thanks.

  9. Subject: what we see Things aren't what they appear to be. A young couple moves into a new neighborhood. The next morning, while they are eating breakfast, the young woman sees the neighbor hang up the wash outside. 'That laundry is not very clean, she said, she doesn't know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs another laundry soap. The husband looked on, but remained silent. Every time her neighbor would hang out the wash, the young woman would make the same comment. About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband, 'Look! she has learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this? Her husband said, 'I got up early this morning and washed our windows. And so it is with life: What we see while watching others, depends on the purity of the window through which we look.
  10. Thank you, z - Your way is certainly much simpler and cleaner. But, can you please explain to me why we don't come up with the same answer? What did I do wrong? thanks
  11. Working on an estate with 3 beneficiaries. One beneficiary, John, owes the estate a balance due on a contract. There is $44,507.45 in the estate. Figures are below: Proposed Estate Distribution: $48,183.53 -65.00 -2,860.58 -750.50 $44,507.45 ÷ 2 = $22,253.73 to Constance & $22,253.72 to Pat To Pay off Contract: $44,507.45 ÷ 3 = $14,835.81 $61,161.00 – balance due on contract -14,835.81 – John’s share of estate $46,325.19 ÷ 3 = $15,441.73 $15,441.73 to Constance $15,441.73 to Pat $30,883.46 – cash John needs to pay off contract $15,441.73 – credit to John Does this make sense??? Thank you.

  13. Has anyone filed a 1040X Protective Claim - Do Not Process Form concerning Insurance Company Demutualization? In 2006 client received a 1099-B from Amerus Group Co. We filed return showing proceeds with no basis because it was a demutualization of insurance company. The U.S. Court of Federal Claims has ruled against the IRS position of assigning zero basis to insurance company demutualizations. So we are thinking of filing a 1040X return showing a basis with a refund. My question is ok we file this, then what? Will the IRS appeal this? When does this change to a "process" 1040X. Do we have to keep track, does the IRS keep track and issue a refund? Thanks.
  14. I was unclear in my first post. There was no income, but yes the deductions were shown so the deductions do flow through to each K-1. My question was just "how come", but I guess you answered that. Thank you.
  15. Why do the beneficiaries who do not receive any money get the benefit of the excess deductions on final termination?
  16. Preparing a final 1041 for estate. Will says estate to go equally to 4 nephews, however, there are claims so money is going to executor fees, atty fees, court costs, funeral home claim and balance to our Estate Recovery Program. No income and deductions shown on 1041. Do I have 4 K-1's for the nephews showing an amount they may use as deductions even though they are getting no money? Thanks.

    NT - New baby

Jackson Kyle arrived at 6:11 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2008 (This is also Mom & Dad's 6th wedding anniversary). The name Kyle was my other son's name - he was killed in a car accident 3 years ago when he was 20 years old. Baby weighed 8 lb, 10 oz and baby, mom, dad & grandma are all doing fine. Thank you God. Now I can find out what all the wonderful talk has been from all Grandpas and Grandmas. The nurse said he was the cutest baby ever and I TOTALLY agree! Thank you for your kind words. Linda
  18. My son and daughter-in-law are on their way to the hospital for their first child (My first grandchild). Please pray for them (Ryan & Darlene) and this new baby. I am SO excited, nervous, etc. etc. Thank you all. Linda
  19. Has anyone used this? Comments? Our office is considering using this. Can we get a demo on this? Thanks

    To Do List

I work in a 2 attorney law firm. We use the program Time Matters for appointments, to do's etc. We are looking for a to do program that we can use for all of our estate/probate work. We will continue to use our Time Matters program, but need something just for estates where the attorneys can bring up a particular case and see what needs to be done and when the deadlines are. I did a google search and found www.todolistsoft.com. Has anyone used this program or does anyone have a recommendation of a program? The attorneys would like to buy a program and not use something off of the web. Thanks.
  21. Individual dies Jan 08. Had not been filing returns. Should I file a 2007 return showing s.s., etc. so estate would get the rebate?
