  1. Yes, but I might think they would at least say "Transmitted to Agency" like last year. Bill
  2. Sorry if I'm not fully explaining everything, but I'm just checking the board in a hurry. Today is "Moving Day", moving all our computers from home to our new office. I assumed that if you had your router installed that you already were sharing drives on both computers with each other? I know Windows XP firewall doesn't like for you to share the root (C:\) drive, but I do it anyway. That makes it easier to share files across the network. I figure with a router, I already have a hardware firewall to the internet. Can you see your 1st computer from My Computer on your 2nd computer across the network? Bill
  3. No, you don't run Netsetup on the server, you just run it on the "workstation" (second computer) You go to "My computer" on the second computer, then double click on the Server (computer that you installed program on), navigate to the ATX2007 (or whatever you named it) folder, find Netsetup (in the netsetup folder) and double click on it. It will run and set up a folder on your second (workstation) computer. At some time you will need to come up with a login name and password for the second computer. Bill
  4. Hi Ken, On a home network with router, the computer you installed the program is the "server" (acts as the server) Hope this helps. Bill
  5. Hi all, Got a new laptop that I will be using as my server running XP Pro. I was hoping y'all would know the best practice for installing 2006 (for rollover)and maybe prior years. I know I've done this in prior years (had all the way back to 98, but I forgot how I did it.) I was thinking I just backed up the files on the old computer, then did a clean install of archive program on the new computer, then restored the backups. But this did not get the modified forms. Had to remodify the forms. Should (could) I copy from my ATX 2006 folder to the new laptop then install 2006 over top into the same folder? Would that take care. From some other posts I know I would need the Masters folder, Database folder and possibly others? Since I was networked last year, I don't need (or want) to remove users. I'm skittish of needing to use repair.exe. Thanks for input, Bill
  6. We use the Brother MFC-8220 and I think it is great. It's a multifunction (fax, print, scan, copy) We're on the 2nd one in about 5-6 years (will probably crash now that I'm talking about it.) Larger toner cartridge cost went up this year to $100 at the store. Bill
  7. Thanks everyone for the replies. As I don't have time to do a lot of workarounds, I'm leaning toward going with XP Pro and possibly upgrade after tax season. Thanks again! Bill
  8. Thought of another question..... Anybody running MAX on a Vista system as a server with XP systems also running MAX as workstations? Any issues? Bill
  9. Hi all, Would appreciate any and all input people have about Vista... I now have two Computers running XP on local network. Thinking about getting new laptop with Vista Business. Searched the board about Vista, seems like most of the problems were earlier last year... searched ATX Knowledgebase, they say they don't support earlier years than 2004 or 05 with Vista. Are there any issues running network with Vista and non-Vista computers? I have ATX back to 98 that I like to access from time to time, will it or not run under Vista? Thanks, Bill
  10. Thanks for the replies, I guess I'm a little jumpy... with all the changes this year, I thought I missed reading something before renewing... Bill
  11. What are you talking about $5 federal and $3 state efile fees from ATX, I was under the impression that MAX had unlimited efile... with no additional charges, just like last year????? Bill
