  1. You're right, it was 118 days, not 90 (I'm getting old). I really just called and spoke to "the man who said hello". I explained that you have to order in advance, when the CD was shipped and when I installed it. I emphasized that I was told it would be Red Gear, that it isn't Red Gear, that the program is useless, and that I had just ordered Tax Act (which charge was already on my account).

My credit (like all credits) is just temporary; TRX has 30 days to dispute.

See, they didn't even put the temporary credit on my account.

  2. I put in a complaint with my Chase card on 1/28 and Chase gave me a temporary credit. Generally, they allow 90 days to file a dispute, unless there are circumstances. I told them "the circumstances" (such as when the CD was shipped vs when I paid, which was last May). I also told them the problems, and pointed out that I had purchased Tax Act instead, and that charge was already showing up on my account. Now TRX has 30 days to dispute my claim

    .

I know from my husband's business, when someone files a dispute against us, our bank account is debited immediately. I'm hoping they are so overwhelmed that they won't even notice the debit, or open the letter from Chase about the dispute.

Chase told me that disputes have to be filed within 118 days. I did remind them that the software wasn't shipped until Dec 10th. Hopefully, they will reconsider. Could you please PM me with the name of the Chase person that you are dealing with?

  3. I never got an email, I renewed when I received the phone call. However, the website promises efiling and ALL STATES. Right now, only ten states are available and I don't know if they are working, so it would appear that the software isn't doing what it promised to do.

By 1/30, it should have been able to efile all types of returns that the IRS was accepting and from what I've read it hasn't.

I saved the webpage that lists the States and a PDF and the webpage where the features of the software are listed and attached them to my dispute with the credit card company. IMO, the applications meets the criteria for SNAD, significantly not as described.

  4. 21 updates and still not a usable program. My download was very slow and I still found bugs. Simple example: 1099-K puts the Payee's information in the Filer's section. I downloaded the demo for TaxSlayer Pro tonight and will test it.

I'm thinking about a web-based product and a few came up on a Google search. Anybody have any experiences to share about web-based software? Everything else is going to the cloud so why not this. :scratch_head:

Today, I signed up for Intuit Tax Online. My only real complaint is you have to send them a file of your last years returns and they will do the conversion. I sent it at 11am and I'm still waiting. It was easy to enter my daughter's easy return.

  5. Cathy I know it is frustrating and if you are like me once all of the problems are "supposed" to be fixed, I still couldn't trust it. So I moved on. The frustration and lack of sleep isn't worth it.

I agree Terry. I just did a test return using Intuit Online for my daughter, took a few minutes. Though I'd try TRX. Another waste of time.

MainStreet Tax phone lines are all busy. Probably TRX members trying to save their practice.

  6. The Attorney General's office at the state level has a consumer complaint division where you can file disputes against someone. Though normally Illinois sucks in everything else, the AG office, in my personal experience, have been very effective in their responsibilities.

Check your local website. Some allow you to file a complaint online.

  7. I'm trying to do a return for my special needs adult daughter, whom I claim on my tax return. I can't even get the EIC stuff done!

Question 16 is not done and it won't let me click or override it to indicate yes or no. It's showing two error rejection codes, but I can't find any other question (besides Q 16) that isn't answered.

Question 7 - daughter is my qualifying child, but it marked it NO. In the Client Info form it is marked that she is disabled and being claimed by someone else as a dependent.

  8. Please tell us how you did it? I paid via PayPal and plan to go back through them and see if it works.

PayPal usually gives you 45 days to dispute a charge. Some credit card companies give you longer. When using PayPal, it's best to fund the purchase with a credit card, then you get protection from both of them (you must file with PayPal first when disputing a charge).

  9. It is my understanding that Taxworks has caught its balance! Folks are able to e-file though some glitches remain. Also Taxworks offered to refund 100% of the price if users were not happy with their performance.

We need TRX to do the same. Offer a full refund to those of us who were duped into buying a beta product that has not delivered as of 1/30. How many e-fles (Fed and State) were you guys able to do yesterday with TRX Pro? I am waiting for that answer??

I didn't even try. I don't trust it. Plus, only ten states have been available and nothing has changed in quite awhile. None of the states that I've used is on the available list. The only improvement that I saw was the fact that one of my client returns that did have proforma successfully, now has.

  10. What's with some of the tax software companies? Redgear did a rework of Taxworks and it's clients are jumping ship, so it looks like if TRX stuck with them, we'd be having these same discussions (another forum for tax professionals that I post on have a nice long discussion on Taxworks).

  11. Cathy, if you had the 2011 TRX Pro (Redgear) product like we all had, then conversion is possible by most major vendors. You have to tell them you got Taxworks files. If you tell them TRX they won't be able to figure out what to do.

Now consider this. Those who still hang with TRX in 2012, assuming the product becomes somewhat functional at a later date, will have a hard time converting their 2012 client data!

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure (I just watched part of the Regear's demo for Taxworks and immediately recognized the user interface). I'm contacting Intuit tomorrow. Until Feb 2nd, they are running a special 9 tax returns for $99. I can't wait any longer. I've read that the user interface is similar to Lacerte and I've used that before.
