  1. Thank you Elrod.  This day is always sad, but this year seemed a bit more difficult.  While being reminded of the continuing suffering of some members of the department one of my guys is in the hospital with covid among other 9/11 pulmonary issues.  It’s been touch and go and we’re hoping he will turn the corner soon, please say a prayer for Kevin B.  Thank you everyone for all the support for fire departments everywhere.  I truly believe people are not forgetting the sacrifices made that awful  day.

  2. Makes me wonder, when seeing animals of different stripes (who they say cannot reason) can agree on how to enjoy each other’s company.  Why can’t people of different stripes  (who supposedly can reason) cannot find a way to agree to enjoy each other’s company.   How ironic.

I think I need more tax returns to do.

  3. In speaking with an agent on PPL she said much of the holdup is incorrect reporting of EIPs, that’s why WMR shows processing.   I’m a little guilty because I assumed clients were giving me correct amounts.   So for the coming season make sure clients confirm and get it right.

    Hi, :)

I just had a similar case, you need to call IRS and they will trace the check.  quit fast.  they will not notify you the trace result, because if the original didnot get cashed, they will just replace a new one.  Through the call, you can confirm with them the valid address.

    Thank you!

    Kate

As soon as I see that the case is resolved I will jump on that, thank you for the advice Kate.    I’ll check WMF every month or so to see that check went out.  I also submitted a 2848 just in case.   He owes me big time next year and he knows it.

  5. I have a client, let’s call him Suspicious Joe who distrusts everything governmental.  Joe never wanted direct deposit.  So Joe was getting a 2020 refund and wanted a check mailed.  After 4 months he calls me, no check.   His return is in the error department probably because he gave me incorrect amounts of EIPs that he said he received by mail.  The problem is, he moved, never told me and no forwarding with USPO because he doesn’t trust them either and doesn’t want anyone knowing where he went (I don’t think the PO forwards refund checks anyway).   I emailed him a copy of his returns twice and Joe finally tells me he moved.  I called  PPL and they tell me there is no way to change address while return is in error review department awaiting an agent’s review.  So does anyone have any idea what to do other than sending in an 8822 which I did?  I told him this may take a year to resolve.  I felt a feeling of joy saying that.  He’s getting a checking account as we speak.

  6. I have a client who received a CP2000 due to a missing 1099B.  He mailed back his reply with the appropriate schedule D and statement to address on notice.    That was over 6 months ago but IRS computer keeps sending notices.   I mentioned this to my friend's daughter and all she could say was yeah, that's a problem.

  7. Yesterday morning my cycling partner tells me his kids are coming over for Father’s Day.  He reveals to me his daughter is a customer service supervisor out of Andover.  What?  I need to talk to her.  She basically told me what I already knew.  They’re seriously backed up, too many people still working from home while trailers loaded with returns and not enough experienced people manning the phones.  Good luck to us all.

  8. Same here, I have 4 that I know about.   I did call Priority line on one and it was due to an amended return that I filed about 2 weeks later, so taxpayer will probably get one refund once they figure it out.  Agent knew that was the reason.

  9. So many songs that I couldn’t say which is my favorite.  But I remember as a kid “The Times They Are a Changin’ got me thinking and was probably one of the first songs I actually listened to the words.

Blowin’ in the Wind is another

  10. I agree with Yardley.  I gave Drake a try twice as I did ProSeries and did like the newness like I had a new toy to play with.  But in the end I just feel comfortable with ATX, and for all it's problems and complaints we can all be like martyrs in the tax preparation world.  There's so much to be upset about, but it brings us closer together as we don't have to suffer in silence or isolation.

still as you reference, positively influencing another blood line can do more social/cultural/genetic good than direct blood lines

Very interesting thought.  The thought never really occurred to me, as I'm someone who has no kids.   I do have a number of friends' kids who look to me for guidance in a number of different matters, usually financial but there has always been tangents to health and some social issues.  I've gotten close to some of them and actually named one as my executor.  I always say, I know a lot of good kids, now they're in their 30s and 40s, and would like to think I had something to do with their successes.

Catherine has a wonderful life ahead as she watches little Cordelia Rose grow into a fine person.    And Cordelia is fortunate to have a terrific grandmother.
