I filled out and sent in my absentee ballot weeks ago and played golf today rather than stand in a line.

I charge $25 per copy. It's always the same clients who are too lazy to pull out their return and bring it to the refiance people to have a copy made. They would rather just call me to fax it or e-mail it which I do when I get their check. It's always "but I need it today because I won't get the lower rate" ... Yeah, and you just found out you were refinancing today. Too bad, it'll have to wait a day since I know you will put that check in the mail to me today.

So I'm filling out the W-12 and line 12 says: "Enter the business website address."
What the heck does that mean?

Alright, I think I'm done.
If anyone's got any questions or having any trouble since the update, gimme a shout.
Here's some stuff that's new. If any of these things sound worthless, speak up, and I'll remove them.
- A mobile template was part of the upgrade, which should automatically be shown if you browse from a phone. If not, it can also be selected at the bottom-left corner of the screen just like the other templates.
- Rating system on each post. You can vote individual posts up or down to increase or decrease their rating. The icons to do so are in the bottom-right corner of each post. The idea is that higher rated posts are more likely to be accurate/helpful
- Topic Preview. When you hover over a thread title in the forum, there's a little icon to the right. Clicking it will show you a quick topic preview where you can switch between previewing the first and last posts in the thread without actually going to the thread.
The Rating System icons look like this:
The topic preview icon looks like this:
There will be one more short maintenance day coming before the end of the year, but I'll try make it as painless as possible since I know it's getting close to that time of the year again.
Eric:
Could you post the above under forum tips so that we can easily find it in the future?
A special thanx as always for doing a super job for us and we do appreciate it.

Has anyone renewed using the deferred payment option? I wonder if there is a service charge of some kind.

After reading the article I see that the author himself (a tax lawyer) gets confused as to what the law says for 2011 and 2012.

I am still in the uncomplicated world of cell phones. I have no contract, I can use the $10, 20, 30, etc. monthly plan depending on my use (AAA using Consumer Cellular).

Going on vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC for a week to play golf, forget about taxes and be off the computer!

Not to defend QB but isn't it the fault of the client who doesn't know how to use the program?
Sounds like you are going to make some serious cash here to straighten this out so you should be very happy rather than sounding frustrated. Surely you are not trying to get this done by tomorrow for a client (a non-filer) who evidently doesn't care about deadlines anyway.

I would expect the IRS to consider it a serious matter in violation of Circular 230.

NEW YORK — A planned computer server outage over the holiday weekend has gone awry for the Internal Revenue Service Tuesday, and the agency is having trouble bringing the system back into operation.
The glitch comes four days before the deadline for filing 2009 returns for taxpayers who got extensions in April.
So far, the shutdown of the IRS "modern e-file" system doesn't appear to be causing huge problems. It appears to involve only the updated version of the e-filing system. The one in use for years remains in operation, and large tax-prep companies like H&R Block and Intuit's TurboTax said their programs will default to the older version.
The IRS expects up to 10 million returns on extension.
