  1. You must be at least age 25 but under age 65 at the end of 2010. If you are married filing a joint return, either you or your spouse must be at least age 25 but under age 65 at the end of 2010. It does not matter which spouse meets the age test, as long as one of the spouses does.

  2. NYS preprarer registration is separate from the IRS. You will have a different ID number to report on the NY return. Go to http://www.tax.ny.gov/tp/reg/tpreg.htm.

    If you are a CPA or EA you will not have to pay the fee or obtain a number. But you still need to fill out the form, which includes a question on whether you are a CPA or EA.

    Now I'm confused! The website (proper link below) says if you are an EA you need to register only if you offer RALs.

  3. Medicare premiums are considered medical insurance for self employed purposes.

    It is not a deduction on Schedule C as your question suggests but it is a deduction on 1040, page 1 subject to limits and is also deducted for self employment tax purposes on Schedule SE for 2010.
