I remember tons and tons of years ago, Brian Levy being on the old ATX board. When I saw it was his birthdate I remembered him and wondered if he is OK and enjoying retirement. I truly hope so.
Anyone know?

We made a mistake doing a MFS return using Drake. 2 kids but one was missed-client caught it. Really don't like the way Drake handles MFS. I'd prefer 3 returns listed: MFJ, MFS husband, MFS wife.
How would you placate the client? I'm going to forgive the 2015 tax pre fee and I'm thinking of giving them a free 2016 tax prep.

Ohio taxpayers filing MFS to save on Oh income taxes. Female is an American Indian whose tribe owns a casino from which she received 2 1099-Misc other income only because she is a member of that tribe. The tribe must have moved their headquarters. Here's the problem: 1 1099 has OR state income of $4,296 which means that the state of OR will receive a copy of that 1099. She does not nor ever has lived in OR. I think I need to file an OR state income tax return so that she doesn't received dunning letters. How do I negate the OR income tax?
Thanks for any help.

I think/feel this tax season is starting much slower then last year's. I'm also thankful for that. Now I'm afraid I'll get slammed soon.

What 1099/1096 software have you found that's will print copies to be mailed and can be E-filed to the IRS?

And Happy Holidays to all. I've really enjoyed this forum for all the stress relief, humor, excellent advise and help.
The 2016 tax season will be my last. I started doing my internship at a CPA firm right after college in 1970. I getting too slow both mentally and physically. It's time to be put out to pasture.

I need a copy of QuickBooks 2014 for a Homeowners Assoc Review. This will probably be the only time I use it. Anyone know where I can buy a copy inexpensively? I've googled and no luck.
Thanks.

I'm trying to find a post of mine. I've tried the "search" but have not found it. I apparently don't know how to do it. I tried searching using my post name "TAG" - that did not work.
Thanks,

It starts to go through the normal opening procedure. Right after the "optimizing database" when the program would normally open my computer flashes back to the desktop.
This computer was 1 of 3 that was "net -worked" and it was not the "server".
Thanks for any help offered.

I switched to Drake for 2013 and 2014. I had used ATX prior. I can open and use ATX 2012. I cannot open ATX 2011. Can anyone help? I'm not very computer literate.

Dimpy,
I've used a lot of them over the 40+ years I've been doing this. I would suggest that you start with Drake and as your client base becomes more complex to add a pay per return more expensive software.
Best of luck in your new career.

I'd like to restart a discussion of Depreciation Software used. What is good, affordable, flexible? Anything new?
