Client formed a corp in Nov 2020 & thought she had elected S status. I found out last year when I tried to file the extension, that S hadn’t been elected. No problem, filed late 2553, return e-filed, all is good.

this year the extension was just rejected again because it’s the wrong type of corp, just like last year. Seems the 2553 still hasn’t been processed? Got lost? Was rejected and they didn’t tell us?

Should I file the extension as a c-corp?  should I file another 2553?  File the return right away with 2553 (since that’s the only way it’ll e-file)?

And the answer is...there isn't one!

I neglected to see that I didn't give enough info regarding what kind of penalty, etc.  Now I could say I sprung out my back and was loopy from muscle relaxers, but that's just whining, isn't it

I think it was the 8965.

that calculates the penalty (which doesn't apply for 2021).  I can't remember the number and I can't find it by scanning the federal forms.  Has it been discarded for 2021 or what's the number?

It happens to me too, especially if I try to open a second return.  I shut down everything and reboot my computer.  Clears out all the crap.  ATX still accumulates RAM usage so if you keep your computer on for days, it adds up and eventually shuts the program down.  A big file can make it happen faster.

I rarely see anyone with OID and golly shucks here's a lady with $55 in OID.  Does anyone know how to enter it in ATX? Oh and she doesn't have any taxable interest in this account; it's all tax-exempt.

Ah, more inquiries show that as husband died in January 2020, the losses were after he died.  They're hers!

I'm doing the 2021 return of a woman that died in January. Her husband died in 2020.  they lived in CA (community property state).  There's a $100k capital loss c/f on the 2020 return.  Am I correct in assuming that my taxpayer gets 1/2 the carryforward?

I've got a client that I was repaying this credit for.  She file MFS so the repayment was $250.  Divorce was finalized in 2021.  I'm pretty sure the house I've been paying on is the one she kept.  So is the repayment $500 this year?

I’m currently filing a return that I’ve informed the client that he no longer has a filing requirement, but he wants to continue due to ID theft.  I only charge a minimal amount.

One of my clients joined the CA state guard.  Do the expenses qualify for the above the line deduction like the National Guard?
