  1. I had a client offer additional "services" if I would include a Hope credit on her return for her college expenses (even though it was already claimed on her parent's return)....but I think this a different topic.

and here I thought the client was "wanting" additional services. I think you misunderstood the title. Your client was "offering" additional services. (just sayin). :dunno:

  2. Do you have to receive all the acks before you transmit any new e-files?

At night I start the e-file transmit procedure and then do something else. I don't have to be there in front of the computer.

I can understand the frustration if you are 250 returns behind.

I can transmit the Federal e-files without receiving the acks. But then the States do not get released (like they are supposed to) if I do not receive the acks. I really do not want to go into all those files already created to unlink the states. I also start the efile transmit procedure when I leave the office at night, but this week when I come back in the morning it is still receiving acks, and no where near to being finished.

Taxed - Don't take my frustrations personally.... I know it was not your intention to put me over the edge. And I agree it is not that big of a deal compared to some of the other issues we have had this season. I just do not have time to do still more extra crap that the program/ATX/IRS should be doing.

    Otherwise, life is just peachy!!

  3. I have a fix for the ack problem, but you probably won't like it. How many clients do you have in the program? Standalone or network?

    Jack,

I am willing to try any fix. I started the transmission process when I left the office at 10:00 last night. This morning (5:00) the system was still receiving acks and was all the way up to 2/09/13. We currently have 2200 clients in ATX on a network. Server plus 6 workstations.

    Thanks

  4. um.... sorry.. .but it is a bit of a big deal when I have 290 Federal e-files in "Created" status waiting to be transmitted. I have a stack of signed 8879s that came in yesterday and today that I wanted to transmit when I leave the office tonight. I have not been able to download the acks for two days now because whenever I start to "recieve acks" it is starting way back on Feb 5th, and I have to cancel out of it so I can use the program to get some work done. And since I am only about 250 returns behind last year's schedule, I suppose that's not a big deal either. I agree I would rather have them fix the system before it crashes, but please do not assume it's not a big deal. If you want to volunteer to come and "unlink" those 290 returns for me, then you are welcome to do that. Thanks for letting me vent!

  5. What are the odds that we will get an IRS alert later this week that due to the late start to this year's tax filing season, they are extending the filing deadline till April 30th, for this year?

50/50?? 90/10?? no chance?? (that would take too much common sense)

    Anybody wanna start a wager??

  6. I put a wrong address on a client's 1040. I put her house number down but her employer's street. So the address on the return is not an actual address. She is getting her refund mailed. This return was accepted on 3/30/13 and is approved and scheduled to be mailed on 4/10. I do not know of any way to get the address corrected prior to it being mailed. So I am expecting I will have to wait till it gets returned to the IRS as undeliverable, and then make the correction and have a replacement chack mailed.

Does anybody know of any other quicker or better way to get this corrected?

(maybe I should try to blame ATX for changing the info on the return after I entered it)

  7. Early reports on the "other" forum sound very promising for the 12.13 update. Some are reporting major improvements in the speed of the program. I am not able to install the update during the day, due to multiple users on the system with clients scheduled.

I would really like to have some more confirmation that it is really true before I update. (I have no idea why I am so skeptical).

Let me know pros or cons.

Thanks, and lets hope it is true.

I was on the verge of "losing it" this morning. I will humbly admit, that I was sitting at my desk this morning with tears literally streaming down my cheeks. The pile of work should be getting smaller this time of the year, but it is already bigger than it has ever been and getting bigger with every day. I am totally "stressed out" to say the least. (thanks for listening).

  8. While sitting here waiting for ATX to open, I randomly decided to google why the program is so slow. When I typed in "Why is ATX"...... it automatically filed in.. "Why is ATX 2012 so slow".

Come on people.... have you all been googling ATX this year?? I just can't believe it.... and no one shared the answers on this forum!! What's up with that????? :dunno:

  9. Left at 4:00 4 hours. Even on the one remaining XP machine, no crashes, no data loss, no missing information, able to create e-files. Only glitch is a 6 year old machine I installed Windows 7 on doesn't seem to like to open the program. Actually had 7 people using the program simultaneously. All seem to work faster. Quicker program opening, return opening, rollover, e-file creation etc. Not rocket fast, but better than yesterday.

Thanks for the updates Jack. I have not installed the 12.10 update yet. Been too busy all day. Plans are to install it late tonight when all the bugs are asleep. (I think that helps).

So it's good to know it's working in your environment as I believe we have a similar set up. Server with 6 workstations.

  10. After the program is installed on the Server:

You access the server by clicking "My Computer" from the start menu of the workstations you want to install ATX on.

    Then: Network

Then: The Server (whatever it is called.)

Then you right click on: ATX2012

    Then click: Map Network Drive

From the drop down menu beside "drive". you have to choose one of the available drives and click on it. . (I used "T", but it doesn't matter which one you choose)

After doing this, you double click on "ATX2012" then "Workstation" then "Netsetup" and follow the installation.

I hope this is a help to anyone that is having problems with netsetup etc.

You have to Map the network drive from every workstation that you want to install ATX on. Be sure to use the same drive (T) on each workstation.

If anyone has a better way of explaining this I welcome them to add/edit as needed. I tried to explain it step by step in plain english.

(because I'm not tech savvy enough to use all the pc jargon)

  11. I paid for a piece of software that does not work and the company is not able to make it work. i have every right in the world to rant. If you want to sing the praises of ATX you'l have to try to sell that bridge to someone else - I am not buying it.

Not to rub salt in the wound or anything, and I have been extremely frustrated with the program this year as well. To the point of pulling my hair out. But I chose to stay with ATX even with the problems. We are currently on tax return number 845 for the year, so yes it does work. Albeit not like it's supposed to work. I'm not trying to sell you anything and you have every right to move a variety of other tax programs. But your statement above is not totally correct so I thought I'd give my 2 cents worth. Too bad 2 cents aint worth much these days.
