  1. What do you do in the situation where a return was rolled over prior to the 12.4 update and a bunch of information was entered (farm sale). Now after the update, when I try to open the return I get the same message about going to 2011 and reopening the return then rolling it over again. If I do that, all the information that was entered will be lost.

Any ideas on how to open the return and still have the information that was entered prior to the update?

  2. I am having a lot of the same issues as the rest of you with ATX. I made up my mind I am not going to let this ruin my day/week/month/tax season. ATX has told me that with every update that comes through things will get better and at the end the program will perform better than in the past. I am taking them at their word. I have stopped trying to "make" the program work. That is their job. I have the program installed on only my computer and do daily updates on it. I have not installed it on the other workstations therefore the other preparers in the office are not experiencing the "stress" that the program is creating. I have installed the W2/1099 program on all stations and that seems to working fine. So we can processs 1099s and W2s.

I have enough other work to do that I don't have to have the tax program functioning at this point, so I am not going to "stress out" about it.

If (and that's a big "if") it turns out that ATX will be a big disappointment, then I will have to make a decision at that point. I just see no sense in letting this drive me bonkers at this point.

    Just my 2 cents worth!

  3. Dear Client,(s)

Since you all live within a couple miles from me, when I ask for your phone number, please do not start with the area code. I KNOW what your frikkin area code is. I could open up the window and yell at you, so yes, I know what area code you are from!!!!

  4. I had a guy bring in his stack of receipts for us to tally. In the stack was a receipt from Victoria's Secret. I need some ideas as to which expense category that should go under.

(If nothing else, it brought some smiles to everyone in the office)

  5. OMG!! OMG!!! I did not notice that requirement till now!! Now I'm totally pacing around the room biting my nails! HOW COULD I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS SO WRONG??

ok.. I gotta get my meds increased ASAP!! :spaz:

    Somebody slap me!!!

  6. I can never get it right.

Is it Crown Royal.... or Royal Crown.

I hate going to the liquor store and asking for a Royal Crown.

(they look at ya really wierd if you do that)

I don't know why this tax season has to be so difficult with issues like this.

  7. I have never seen the need for the obsession of having the DCN number on the 8879.

I totally agree with this. I have had three of the preparers audited here in the office and the DCN numbers were not even mentioned. I am not concerned at all about this.

  8. When trying to log into the 2010 ATX program, I get the following message:

"You are already signed in on another workstation."

"Please sign out before signing in at another location."

The 2010 program is not open on any other workstation therefore I am not logged in anywhere. Why am I getting this error?

I have restarted all the workstation computers and that does not make a difference.

At this point I tried to log in all the different users (5) and everyone gets the same error message.

What do I look for? How can we all be logged in when the program is not even open on any computer?

    Wierd!

    Thanks for any advice.

    Ray

  9. Is there any way to print out a list, or see a list, of tax returns that were not e-filed? We have the pleasure of being inspected by the IRS auditor for preparer procedures etc. and she wants to see a all the returns that were not filed electronically. I have tried to find something in ATX that will let me see which returns were not e-filed. This would only apply to personal tax returns (ie: 1040-1040A-1040EZ).

If anyone knows of anyway to do this, I would greatly appreciate the assistance.

    Thanks
