Roth IRA Distribution Question

Crank

Recommended Posts

I have a 1099R with a code T. Taxpayer is over age 59.5 and has had Roth IRAs in excess of 5 years. So this distribution should not be taxable.

I input $0 in to box "2a Taxable Amount" of the 1099R and still the amount from "Box 1 Gross Distribution" carries to line 19 of form 8606 and line 15b of the 1040 showing the entire distribution as taxable. I tried putting a zero in line 19 of the 8606 but it still shows the gross distribution.

How does everyone handle nontaxable Roth IRA distributions in TRX?
