gfizer Posted February 19, 2013 Report Share Posted February 19, 2013 I have a young couple who moved from Virginia to Kentucky in May of 2012. I have completed the Federal and Kentucky PY returns with no probem but I cannot get the Virginia Form 760PY to calculate. I completed the Schedule of Income and the software populates the first page of the form with the correct numbers to arrive at Virginia Adusted Gross Income but the 2nd page of the return shows zeroes. The worksheets for the prorated standard deduction and exemption are properly calculated but the figures aren't flowing from the worksheets to the return itself. What am I doing wrong? Hahn1040 Posted February 19, 2013 Report Share Posted February 19, 2013 What is their Virginia AGI? The filing threshold is fairly high: MFJ $23,900 possibly they are not required to file. The worksheets show the figures for prorated standard deduction and exemption but the figures from the worksheets aren't flowing to the return. grmy2h Posted February 19, 2013 Report Share Posted February 19, 2013 I just went in and did a "dummy" part year. It seems when the filing threshold is not met, it doesn't fill in line 13-18. When I put in amounts just above the threshold it filled in those lines. I know it also acts that way on a resident form if it is below. Gail in Virginia Posted February 19, 2013 Report Share Posted February 19, 2013 As long as it is showing the proper refund and withholding, you are fine. The other lines are supposed to be blank if the income is below the filing threshold, because the math might actually work our to a small taxable income and still be below the threshold, so ir just leaves that part blank.
