Kea
I will be e-filing a return for a New Mexico part-year client. The NM website mentions: Note: All New Mexico professional tax preparers must have a New Mexico CRS (Combined Revenue System) Identification Number. If I am only submitting one e-file, am I a "NM professional tax preparer" / do I need this ID? Another NM question: Do medical savings account contributions / expenditures get shown anywhere on NM returns? If so, where? Thanks so much. I recently had a NM resident return and posted a question on the Drake software forum asking if I needed anything other than a Federal EFIN. The Drake State software representative said all I needed was the Fed EFIN, so I submitted it. I had never tried to efile a state return before. Hope it works OK. taxxcpa
I just checked and found the NM return I submitted had been accepted. So it looks like nothing more than being a federal e-filer is required.
Kea
Thanks so much. I'll send it and see if it goes through.
MAMalody
What I have found is that all states honor IRS clearance for out-of-state preparers/filers. When you live within the state, they still honor it but may also require you to participate in their system also. Mike
