Louisiana Help - Sales Tax return for Non Profit

I agreed to help out a non-profit organized in Louisiana.   I got the paperwork Monday and there are payments to the Department of Revenue for delinquent sales tax returns.   Non-profit formed in July, has not had any taxable sales since they organized.   From what I can read online, you are required to file a return every month for the first 6 months of existence.  They have not filed any returns with the Department of Revenue.

Is there a way to fix this mess?   Can I get the payments back by filing the returns with Zero sales back to July?   Or will that just make it worse?  Should I just file the months that they have not filed an chalk it up to "education" on the months that have been paid?

Thanks in advance.
