schirallicpa
My client is a NYS resident and gambles in Columbus. The casino withheld state and Columbus tax. I have worked thru the state return and have that all set. Is there any thing I need to do for Columbus? Or do I just claim the credit on the NYS return and call it a day. JJStephens
Alas, a Columbus return is required. Gambling winnings are taxable in Cbus as 'other compensation,' and gambling losses cannot be used to offset winnings. File Form IR-25 or the Ohio generic municipal tax return.

I didn't file a return for him, and haven't heard a word. He had to pay here on the same money, no reciprocity, and he was PO'd.
BTS
Columbus return is not necessary if proper city taxes were withheld. You can file one if you want, but we never file them. Unless they reside there of course
