W-2 question/ATX

I understand that you can file black and white W-2s, even though you must use the red and white for 1099SW. If that is true, why does the ATX W-2 print "void" in the upper left hand box? Is there something that I am not checking. These W-2s are not being electronically filed.

I have printed a lot of W2s from ATX software and have not seen any "VOID". Where do you see this..?

The word Void is actually a check box so that if you print a bad W2 you check the box and the government ignores processing that W2 but still processes the other W2 on the sheet.

There's supposed to be a check box to the right of the word "Void" on Copy A, but the ATX software doesn't print the check box. It has always been that way (at least as long as I've used ATX). Either the check box isn't required or else it's been slipping through the cracks for lots of years.
