I've never e-filed 941/940 before. This is the first year I've had MAX (had to upgrade due to the limit on # of e-files). What is the process? Do we have to apply to SS for a PIN # - and if we do, is it a # just for us or one for each of the clients? Thanx.

You need to update your EFIN with the IRS as a reporting agent and then they will send you a letter with a 5 digit pin to use for 940/941 e-files. You also need to complete Form 8655 (Reporting Agent Authorization) for each of your clients, have them sign it and then fax to the IRS. This RAA remains in effect until you or your client revoke it.

Once set up, it really does work out great! Hope the above helps!

Nice and useful info for me, I'll fellow your instruction to get the 5-digit pin. Thanks a lot.
