Janitor Bob
I have seen ATX reference a form titled Audit Shield....What is this?
HV Ken
There was information on this that came with your install disk. With Audit Shield, your clients can purchase an extended, three year warranty on their qualified returns for only $24.95. Audit Shield provides reimbursement of up to a total of $2,500 for any penalties, interest or additional taxes assessed by the IRS. Audit Shield is only available to taxpayers receiving a bank product.

Slappy Tax
I read somewhere that the IRS wants to ban such tactics on the basis that it induces a taxpayer and/or preparer to cheat on a return since they have audit protection anyway. I know there must be a whole lot more to it than that, but that's the broadbrush summary.
