How to Import Files

Sherm

Recommended Posts

I have 2001 ATX software. I still use it to complete local tax returns. I got a new computer and installed the ATX software. I copied and pasted the Database from my backup drive to the program. But the files don't show up in the Program Mgr. How do I get these files to show up in the program Mgr. Thanks,

Denny

Until someone else jumps in, I'll tell you what I remember from when I used ATX and changed computers. I was told to export and then import the data after installing the program. I did that successfully to move several years of ATX returns to my newer computer a couple of years ago.

2001 and 2002 will NOT pick up your files out of the database you moved. You must use the "restore" function in the program on your new computer and point it toward the old database. It may take hours depending upon how many clients and how fast/slow your computers and network connections are. Your process will work for 2003 and up.

I just moved 2000 through 2010 to a new server successfully.

2000 through 2002 do NOT support network.
