  1. do you think this guy is going to hurt your business if he badmouths it? Then file it. If not...send him his paperwork back with a note saying that you cannot provide services for free. Life is too short to sweat these things. Do what you want to do in your business, for reasons that you don't need to explain to anyone. Even the deadbeat kid. Tom Longview, TX

  2. Hi Catherine, you already did a good job and could file it, may be someday, he can appreciate your good heart and pay it. At least, he will remember he owe you a favor. I did a lot like this, and eventually, I got paid. Of cause, I lost money too but that is the risk. The job is done, so wont cost extra to file it now. Hope he is not a unfair person. Cheers.

  3. I think you have to file within 3 days (?) of receiving signatures. Think of it as your final gift to his mother.

  4. Follow up to my earlier post. When I spoke with a Drake tech support old-timer she recommended that if I call in to press 2 on the phone tree. It says it's for business support but it's really just a more experienced support person. If you press 1, you're more likely to get a newbie. I've done that a couple times and had much better success getting the help I needed.

  5. I have been with ATX for over 25 years. I was paying 1183.00 I was guaranteed this price for so many years now this year it is over $2,000 and I noted to them online that the price is 1579.00 but he is telling me that is only if I was a new customer. To me they care about new customers not there customers with them for so many years?

  6. I give a Loyal Client Discount. I list the total price and then the discount, for clients that I think were faster or easier or more organized of bring in family or...based on what I really want to charge them. During last year with the new forms and new TCJA wrinkles, I dropped a lot of Loyal Client Discounts, either lower or dropped altogether. I don't give new clients discounts. Unless they're kids (through college) of current clients. In fact, for new clients that are not referrals of good clients, I quote high.

  7. Copied from IRS Tax Topic 601: "Have a qualifying child who meets the age, relationship, residency, and joint return tests, and isn't treated as the qualifying child of another person. Or, if you don't have a qualifying child, you must: be age 25 but under 65 at the end of the year. However, for 2021, there is no maximum age limit for eligible workers. In addition, for 2021, the minimum age limit is 24 years of age for a full-time student, 18 years of age for a qualified former foster youth or a qualified homeless youth, or 19 years of age for all others; not qualify as a dependent of another person; and live in the United States for more than half of the year."
