  1. Thanking me for a great tax season. They sent me their software but I never used it. It also goes on to say that they received many positive emails on how great the software and support was this year and they will be posting them on their website. They then go on to once again plug purchase by 5/31 and receive the same price as last year. Who is buying this crap after being burned?

  2. Is it just me or is there an increase in this type of ridiculousness this season? I had a client drop partial info in mid February. I emailed and called several times requesting the missing documents. They were delivered to me on 4/14. She stated she was sorry but things have been so hectic because her unmarried 21 yo became pregnant. This makes me assume the client is carrying the baby for the daughter? Husband is W2 and spouse works from home and made <$1500.

  3. Is anyone experiencing long ack times on fed efiles. I realize it is probably the busiest time but I thought with the MEF, ack times would improve for the whole season. I have 3 filed over 24 hours ago with no ack. Of course it wont allow me to send the states until the feds come back.

  4. I've been mulling firing my all-time worst client--this guy is the very last one in every stinkin' year--and never pays a dime.

    Me.

Ive already decided to fire a long time pain in the ass neighbor. Dropped off on the 11th said an extension was out of the question so I did the return and now he wants an extension, I think because he hit the AMT this year and doesn't trust my numbers. The highest earners are always the biggest pain in the ass. Its compounded by the fact that he is an engineer and the majority I have encountered believe that because they work with numbers that they know better than their preparer on their taxes. :wall:

  5. On Friday I received his return and told him it would most likely require an extension..He balked saying if I couldn't complete it by the 15th he would have to find alternative arrangements. The return is fairly complex. numerous stock trades, 4 states including an out of state rental, a k-1 investments, carry forward stock and rental losses, and to top it off Alternative minimum tax calculations for an additional $4k in tax which i think he is pissed about since its new this year. I forged ahead and completed it because he is my neighbor. I offered to send him a pdf for review and talk on the phone. Now he wants to file an extension probably because I wont meet with him and to buy time to drum up additional deductions/expenses. None of which would make a significant difference on the return, When you earn in excess of $260k you can expect to pay.

Ive been in business too long (and Im too tired at this point) to put up with this type of BS.

Im going to tell him the going forward he needs to find someone else to do his taxes. Thinking about referring him to local CPA office I know personally. They charge more than double what I do.

    End rant

  6. Ugh, with the deadline fast approaching I seem to have come down with flu like symptoms. Chills, sweats, horrible sleep, loss of appetite, nausea, etc. Just what I need. Had to be a client as I haven't really moved from this office in about 8 weeks and the family is fine. And I have had a flu shot ..if that's it. Well, it has been a horrible season so far ...so why not.

  7. Lesson learned.

I appreciate hearing of "stupid mistakes" as they make me feel better knowing I'm not the only one. And I realized my most recent stupid mistake certainly wont be my last. Im amazed I dont have more given the increasing pressure and time constraints brought on by tax season.

  8. Eight in progress and three who are still threatening to bring their taxes ...sheesh.

Plus, yesterday I got the second call this season from someone asking if I could prepare and file their 1120S before the deadline, which they claim they thought was 4/15. I declined anything to do with it. They are a fairly large used auto sales business and they just seem like they will be more trouble than they are worth.

  9. I just saw this article today. It happened on 3/31 where two of the hosts of The View ( Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd) went topless on the show. At first, before I read the article I thought it was an April Fools joke but later realized, after reading it, that it was just sad.

Now a few years ago Sherri Shepherd admitted she didnt know that the world was round and boy that was funn ... um nope just sad again.

  10. It never asked before if I wanted to use a PRS return. Also, the conversion from Taxwise didn't include any states so I don't think It would recognize that the additional states are needed. Maybe it will prompt for PRS when I attempt to add additional states.

    Thanks Kea
