  1. John, I checked around and there are no limitations in place for this right now, so you should be able to send up efiles/MeF for prior years. If for some reason you run into an audit or error when doing this, send it over to me and I can take a look but our regulatory folks told me there were no restrictions in place at this time. Thanks, Ryan
  2. Thanks, John. I will see what I can find out definitively on this. Ryan
  3. Understood and it should be much more robust this next year. Thanks again. Ryan
  4. Kea, Last update per the IRS we just recieved: Yes they can, the form 8938 is one that does need to be a PDF file for this year and forms that have no schema established or are not on the list of forms that can be filed with the Form 1040 family can be attached as a pdf. One form that has been identified is the Form 926 which can be filed with the Form 1120, it can't be filed using schema with the Form 1040 and would have be be filed as a pdf file. They are looking into changing that for next year. The last I heard, the Form 8938 schema would be added for Tax Year 2012. That essentially means you can fill out the 8938 in the form filler and then attach it as a PDF to the return and e-file, but it also means that we will not be programming the form until we get the 2012 schemas. Thanks, Ryan
  5. Kea, Here is what I got back from a resource here: At present, Form 8938 e-file specifications exist for legacy, but the form has not yet been included in the 1040 schema for MeF. As easy as Form 8938 looks, there are actually 16 statements for legacy e-file and at least 2 overflows that would need to be programmed. Since this is the last year of legacy, we would not want to waste all of that time programming the statements. It would be much better to wait for the IRS to produce a schema so that we don’t have to program for e-file twice. I just emailed the IRS to ask if it is permissible to attach a PDF of Form 8938 since they have not included it in the 1040 schema. They have previously stated that forms cannot be attached if there is XML available, so I am guessing that they will accept the 8938 as PDF for now. I have also asked for a timeframe of when the XML will be available. It may be possible for us to add the form later in the season but probably not until March—and that is only if the MeF schema is available. As far as Forms 3520 and 3520-A, they are 6 and 4 pages, respectively, with numerous overflows. We would definitely not have time to program these before the season is over, but we can consider adding them this summer when we prioritize our enhancements for 2012. I will let you know on Form 8938 as soon as I hear back from the IRS As stated, I will update you when we hear back from the IRS, but wanted to give you what I have so far. Thanks, Ryan
  6. Mike, I did not realize that you had made it to this, and am happy to hear it. In our Power Seminars this past month we introduced a few of the new features we are working on, but right now those December dates only reach to Orlando, Vegas, and right here in Salt Lake City. I hope your tax season is going well. Ryan
  7. Hi everyone, Sorry for jumping in late, but is everyone good to go on this? I have read through the thread but admit to not having much expertise with this feature. However, if you are having issues or still needing to use this functionality for some reason, let me know so I can get the right people to help here. Thanks, Ryan
  8. Terry, I will let you know what I am able to find out once I round up some CA expertise. Thanks, Ryan
  9. Beckster, If you are using the TRX/TaxWorks program, did you get what you are needing or can I help? Thanks, Ryan
  10. John, Your feedback is fairly common back to TaxWorks and we will be making some significant changes to Organizers for next year's program. I know that doens't help you short term, but I hear you loud and clear on the need and have included it in my feedback to the right people. Thanks, Ryan
  11. Hi John, Did you end up getting a final answer on this one? Thanks, Ryan
  12. Good evening everyone. Happy to hear there has been some progress on the printing, and also the check boxes that appear to generate the forms you are seeking for the respectivef states. Let me know if there is something outstanding on this issue and I will get it to the right folks here. I am sorry that TRX support hasn't met expectations, and I hope I can make up for that, as i don't want to see issues since it is ultimately our software you are using. Thanks, Ryan
  13. Hi everyone, Ryan from RedGear here. Just a quick plug, since I am working on another project this year and am late to the party here, to really take a look at TaxWorks in the coming year. We will be introducing features and a tremendously simplified user interface this going to be awesome. When I am able to share more, I will, but I have to at least throw it out there that what we will be doing is worth the look. Take care, Ryan
  14. Hi Kea/Mike, I have taken your question and posed it to our regulatory team that can help with both the short term answer of this year, and also adding it to the program for future use, as a fully programmed form(s). I will let you know what I find out. Thanks, Ryan
  15. Hi John (Crank), Regarding the PA forms, I have been told that both are now available in the form filler, but I am not where I can validate that. If time permits, go ahead and take a look. They will be added to next year's program as IRS approved forms with full use. Thanks, Ryan
