  1. They have just started to roll one out. See screenshot of download page. TRXPayroll.pdf
  2. I used TRX this year and found it to be worth the money in switching from ATX whom I had been with since 1998. I will admit I was bit nervous at first because I tried the 2006 Demo and there were problems with converting my 2005 ATX data file. When I got the 2007 CD, the conversion worked fairly well. It didn't bring foward some depreciation and duplicated 6252's but nothing major was left out where I had to completely scrap a return and re-enter. I have about 175 clients and it worked perfect for my business. I only have 1 1065 & 1 1120-S so not having the business e-file was no big deal, but next year they plan to have it. I was completely satisfied with the program and have already re-upped for next year. I loved how it gives a client summary on the main page and shows all federal & state refund/pay info. As far as e-files go, TRX was wonderful. I had only 2 rejects all season that were my fault and some acks came back in a little as 6 hours. TRX really pushes RALs (which I don't do) but at $299 compared to $1065 for MAX it was well worth the risk. The program was easy-to-use and I didn't feel I missed a beat by switching. 3. Email clients and get approval and call other clients without email. The Interenet & cell phones make life much easier.
  4. I have about 175 clients mostly with W-2, Interest, and itemized deductions. I only do it part-time (full-time I'm a Purchasing Card Manager) so making the most of each dollar is important. I do have few difficult returns with farms and TRX handled those just as well as ATX. I'd be happy to give an end-of-the-year review. The customer service has been outstanding. I went on a vacation to Daytona in mid February and had to take my laptop and about 25 returns to prepare, but I had no way to e-file since I had only registered my desktop for filing. Called and in less than a minute TRX had me e-filing returns on my laptop and I didn't miss a beat. Scott P
  5. I had been using ATX since 1998 until this year. After the problems last year and the fear of CCH discontinuing MAX at some point, I decided to look at other programs. I found a gem of a program that works perfectly for my business and only at $299. It's called TRX Pro and it's has some tie in with Orrtax. The only worry I had about changing was the dreaded conversion, but much to my surprise it went rather smoothly. I've had to re-enter some depreciation and it created multiple copies of 6252, but has not been anywhere near the issues I thought could happen. I saved over $800 compared to MAX and the only thing I don't have is the payroll or special local forms contained on the ZillionForms. I've found it to be comparable to MAX and for $299 I'll be renewing again. E-file ws a breeze and did not any rejections due to the program from the get-go. Most of my federal acks have come back in as little as 4 hours some days which is remarkable. If you do a lot of business or fiduciary returns, then I can't speak to how the good the program works because I only do 1 partnership and it comes this week. I loved ATX for many years, but being proactive really has paid off and my profilt line is showing. http://www.trxalliance.com/ Scott P www.powellstaxservice.com
  6. While browing the site, I have seen the comments about the displeasure of CCH. I had used ATX since 1997, but decided to look at software over the summer. Like some others, I looked at Drake and was not too thrilled. I heard about Tax Refund Express on this board and decided to try it. The 2006 version was ok and I did a return or two in it and decided to go with them for 2007. I had been purchasing MAX, but TRX was only $299 for their whole package and free unlimited e-file. I did have some issues about the conversion for 2006, but the conversion to the 2007 version worked flawlessly. Most data converted correctly which was my #1 fear going in. So far I have been impressed, but the season is just getting started. I have about 170 clients and so saving $800 kept me from increasing my fees this year which makes my clients happy. My gut feeling that ATX was going away within 3 years appears to be happening. I'm glad I made the switch this year and will be glad to let people know about my experience with TRX-PRO. For those who have not seen the TRX-PRO (IntelliTax or Orrtax), I have attached a screen print of the opening page. www.trxalliance.com TRXPRO2007_Main_Screen.pdf
  7. I have used ATX since 1998 and concerned about the possible elimination of ATX within CCH. I worked with ProSystems at an accounting firm & hated it. I have really enjoyed using MAX which makes it hard to switch at this point. Once the buyout was announced, I thought I'd have at least 2 tax years ('06 & '07) before a switch. My price for MAX is unchanged for 2007 so I may renew, but I'm going to explore other programs like Drake, TaxSlayer, and TaxAct. I had my best year ever and I don't want to re-key all 165 of my returns into a new program. I just do this on the side and time wasted re-entering returns is not worth the $200-$300 price difference. My sanity is worth that much. It upsets me the ATX Communities was taken away without notice & it does cause me some concern over MAX's future. I did the PRS in 2004 thinking I might save a few bucks....NOT!! Ended up with an busy year & more fees. Never will do PRS for any software ever again. I like having the convenience of all the forms MAX provides and it's going to take one good offer & program to make the switch 1 year early. Thank you for this board!!! Scott_P
  8. Girlfriend made over $14,000
  9. Good thing this message board is here. I haven't needed to look up answers in a while and relized the ATX Community was gone. Thank you for this message board. I have a situation that I don't think is quite correct and I'm looking for some validation. Scenario: Boyfriend & girlfriend (not married in any shape or form). Boyfriend helps girlfriend pay medical bills & mortgage while out of a job. Boyfriend files girlfriend as dependent (I found this out after rejection of her e-file), but girlfriend is not a qualifying relative and made over $3,300. Boyfriend is claiming over half of her support, but doesn't a qualifying dependent have to meet all 3 tests to be allowed? (Relationship, Gross Income, & Support) Boyfriend's preparer said he was allowed to take dependecy exemption and I say he couldn't. Is there something I'm missing? Any comments are greatly appreciated.
