  1. I have an amount on line 15 and 16 and still got the letter.

Per the IRS person I spoke with, "the error is that the 8941 is attached, per reg...????? 8941 is not required when filing with a K-1."

So I have replied to the letter advising them to tear up the 8941 and pretend they never saw it.

  2. I purchased the brother DSmobile 700D compact duplex scanner this year. Wanted something that would be small and fit neatly on my desk, plus fit in my case for easy transport. It has worked flawlessly so far. I purchased mine at staples during a sale.

  3. So does the federal govt.

    http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/auditreports/2012reports/201230094fr.pdf

"Federal agencies are exempt from paying Federal income taxes; however, they are not exempt from meeting their employment tax deposits and related reporting requirements. As of December 31, 2011, 70 Federal agencies with 126 delinquent tax accounts owed approximately $14 million in unpaid taxes. In addition, 18 Federal agencies had not filed or were delinquent in filing 39 employment tax returns. Federal agencies should be held to the same filing and paying standards as all American taxpayers."

  4. New s corp client raises oysters on a oyster ground, harvests, then sells. Former preparer has an "other asset"account for "oysters planted" and adds all oyster seed purchased to this and subtracts all oysters sold from it. There is a very large amount in the other asset ending balance for 2011 and client states all the seeds are planted in the river.

I have tried researching the actual expense of seed oysters and everything I can find (which is not much), seems to indicate that the oyster seed is an expense in the year purchased and not an asset.

Does anyone have any experience with this? How do you classify the oyster seed or what is your opinion?

  5. Is there a reason that you have a static IP, such as if you host your own website or access your computers from another location? The static IP is your routers internet address, so if there is something looking for it you will need to let those people know about the change. If no one is accessing it then you don't need to worry about it. Usually, Static IP's cost more than Dynamic IP's so if there is no need to have it, you might consider switching if the cost is important to you.

  6. I hope they are correct. I'm still finding little errors as I'm going back and forth from ATX to Drake. A return that was easy and done in ATX but waiting for a form to be approved, I decided to use this as one of the returns to ease my way into Drake and I'd be able to compare the two systems. Somehow over $4,000 in unemployment benefits disappeared from the ATX return. I don't need the embarrassment of e-filing an incorrect or incomplete return because of a faulty program.

    from other board...

Scenario: 1040 return prepared using a 1099-G and you downloaded the Form update for the 1099-G on February 7th after 2:30 PM EST and you have unemployment data missing from the return. The 1099-G form version is 43.

Solution: Our development staff is currently researching the reason for this occurring. Once we determine the cause, we will update the blog and issue an updated 1099-G in a Forms update

  7. 1.) You may be able to restore to a date earlier than the 12.7 update. 2.) A last resort might be to un-install 2011 and re-install it. I'm not necessarily recommending that, but if its not working anyway you really have nothing to lose as long as you have the returns backed up.

Tech can call, they called our office 3 times.. that was during the week though, maybe that's the difference???

  8. Not any of the 4 prior years, "any 4 prior tax years". Not very well worded, but that's taken from the 8863.

Yes, I read it is if they took it ANY 4 years ( total of 4 years) they are not eligible. Anything less than any 4 years they are eligible.

  9. Wow, I'm really sorry you are having these problems. Looks like the error codes are saying you aren't allowed to write to that drive.

I am downloading the update now on another computer that I use and it is moving along fine. It only asked where to save and I selected a folder where I keep all updates called downloads on my c: drive. I save them there, then click them to install after the download is finished,

    Did support ever pick up?
