I just took a CPE class where the presenters were ODR employees called "DOR Tax Professional Liaison." This was under a topic called Market Based Sourcing. My post was paraphrase was what the presenter said. Please see pages 2, 3, & 4. https://www.oregon.gov/dor/programs/taxpro/SiteAssets/Pages/meetings/Handout B%26W.pdf

Hopefully you have saved the payment confirmation and double checked the the payment type and year.
-
I assume you have an ID.me account, because I don't and I can't get in.
-
I don't know when it changed, but now it appears that the only way to access your EFIN account is with an ID.me account? I have a login.gov account but I don't have an ID.me account.

Sounds somewhat like my client's letter. Have you seen this letter? More than likely it has a phone number to call. At the end of my client's letter it said that if they didn't receive direction of what to do with the overpayment within 3 months, that a refund would be mailed to my client

On the other hand, these rules strongly suggest that if I prepare any tax returns for residents of Nevada or Washington (states with no income tax) then that income would not be Oregon Income or subject to Oregon Tax. Hmm
-
However, depending on where your client resided your income could be subject to Self Employment Tax from a Transit District or a City. Over $400 of Self Employment Income related to a client living in Eugene would require the filing of a Lane Transit District SE Tax Return and the filing of a City of Eugene SE Tax Return.
-
My understanding is that it would be based on where the client is residing at the time the return was prepared.
-
Oregon has now adopted rules similar to California. The preparation of Oregon Tax Returns for residents or a business residing or located in Oregon by preparers located outside of Oregon is considered to be Oregon Income subject to Oregon Tax.
-
Yes I have had to do that on M-2 from time to time
-
Patti, I would call or email your IRS Stakeholder Liaison, 412-404-9151 [email protected]
-
How many times did you call before you got through?

Unfortunately, with the reduction in in staffing, we will see more errors like this

I have been an enrolled agent since 1992. When you renew the effective date of your license is April 1st. However the application period for renewing your license ends January 31st, which is why you received the inactive status letter. Per Circular 230: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/pcir230.pdf
-
Probably, because the renewal deadline was January 31st. You will probably need to file Form 8854 to request reinstatement

I just got off the phone with the IRS. A refund check will be issued in about 4 weeks. After my initial call, I spent about 30 minutes waiting for a call back. It took about 10 minutes to verify my client and my own identity. It took another 10 minutes for the agent to go into another system and schedule the refund check. He didn't know why the scheduled Direct Deposit never happened.
-
I don't see how any of us could verify someone else's identity, client or not. I have never found the third party check box to be of any use
-
Yes I have a client about 20 years younger than you who recently had an SI Joint fusion to relieve months of Sciatica. Of course, her insurance company insisted that they try all of the less expensive procedures first which didn't help.

Yes

I efiled a Form 1120 a month ago. My client had made estimated payments of $9,600. The corporate tax owed was $8,585 leaving a refund of $1,015, which should have been made via direct deposit. My client just received a CP 267 letter from the IRS asking my client what they wanted them to do with the refund. I went back and double checked the routing number and the checking account number which were all correct

That's why I am signed up for all of the IRS email notices and alerts. Even though a number of them don't apply to my practice, they keep me informed

Are you / have you used "My Tax Prep Office" tax software?
Lee B replied to TAG's topic in General Chat
I looked at it when it first came out some years ago. It was pretty basic and wouldn't do what I needed. It has an online reputation of over promising and under delivering. Frankly, I am surprised it is still around -
According to Drake's knowledgebase, Drake made the decision to do this last fall.
-
Curious, TIGTA released a report saying that the IRS had found concentrations of High Income Non Filers in western Texas, eastern New Mexico, Wyoming and northwestern Nevada.

This sounds like the "Mychart" system that my Doctor's office uses. The pre-registration questions go on and on and on for pages
