  1. Just in case you ever run into this again....I just filed one of these for the first time because the client never received her refund check because she moved and apparently never reviewed her return prior to signing the 8879. The IRS agent I called said if the individual called the IRS herself with the amount of the refund, her SSN and something else (listed on the IRS website) then they could make the change on their end and resend a new check to the new address. I filled out the 8822 for the client anyway in case she was asked to fax one over.
  2. I highlight them from the previous acct's PDF schedule > right click export (and select excel) and then edit the sheet until it's in an exportable format. That worked great for importing into FA Manager and then immediately exporting to ATX. "Worked" being the past tense form. I thought about rolling multiple years but the last year we had to do this apparently was 2008.
  3. That said, it seems clear to me that ATX does not have CPA's/Accountant's advising them on our needs while developing this stuff. Who on earth wants to enter 100 assets during busy season.... much less 1,000+ Oye!!!
  4. A couple more hours with support and it looks like ATX removed FAM for 2015 and fully integrated everything within the ATX platform. Per the FA CS department, there is no way of importing from Excel or otherwise this year. All assets must be hand keyed. For those interested, there is also an issue with ATX not printing out state depreciation reports that depart from Federal depreciation standards. In regards to printing special depreciation reports note that after clicking the 30-day trial you ALSO have to go to the reports tab and download the crystal reports link. After that go to here - http://files.cchsfs.com/doc/atx/2015/Help/15.4/Default.htm#Both-SSource/FAM Plugin/Custom Reports.htm?Highlight=enhanced asset manager to get the report set up the way you want. Once set up you can't just print the report with the return as I understand it. I found that if you go to the right and click "Preview Mode", there will be an option to print the report as a stand-alone. This should print what you want.
  5. Hey Abby, I was actually able to right-click within the print packets and re-arrange the 8879, client letter, comparison, and coversheet to print (in that order) for all returns. I haven't had to re-sort any returns yet. I got a 5 year veteran on the phone and he explained that one to me and shook his head (over the phone) that the previous CS Rep had told me it wasn't possible. I love getting people that know what they're paid to know.
  6. Then there's the ones that take 8 months to get you their info, all along sending emails and placing phones calls to your office. When they finally give everything to you they then expect to be your top priority, and be ready for filing. I wish all forms had to be mailed out by 01/31/2015 subject to automatic penalty without waiver, and that the personal return deadline could be changed to the end of May, and lastly, that all refunds were held and mailed on the last day of tax season to eliminate 99% of the fraud cases. Maybe that makes too much sense though.
  7. So I am trying the 30 day trial of the newly integrated FA add-on to allow classification by groupings (such as location). The account manager said to give it a try, and it seems easy enough coding each of the assets. I couldn't, however, get the 4562 detail report to print out any of these classifications/groupings. Seems like the account manager/sales center might be closed (it's after 3pm PST) so I couldn't get back through there. I then tried CS and they don't even have the add-on feature so that call was useless. Can anyone tell me how to get the depreciation reports to print out using the classifications you've coded in?
  8. Thanks for the tip. didn't know you could right click and move like that! One step closer
  9. @Abby Normal I was wondering if you've found a way to move the client cover sheet to print after the federal client letter and comparison sheets. I went to return manager > Options > Preferences > Print > View/Edit Print Packets but couldn't find the coversheet to move it after the Federal Client Letter and comparisons. I was hoping to get it to print the same as we process our returns. Also, our admin set his printing preferences as desired and also went into the Sch K-1 Master form and forced the client letter to NOT print. I then imported his defaults into my workstation. It seemed fine, but when I printed out a 1065 today the client letters are printing for the K-1's. I tried printing a different 1065 and none of the K-1 info printed (No letter, K-1, K-1 Codes, or K-1 Stmts). Do you have any thoughts on this? After an hour the C.S. rep proved to be unhelpful on this one :-/ I have a ticket in but she didn't describe the scenario very well so I thought I would try your expertise. Thank you
  10. In case anyone is following these steps please note that you can't use the "jump to field" link... you have to manually click on the tabs at the bottom of your screen. Thanks for that Abby Norm'
  11. I love it when customer service can answer a question! Sch A Within ATX (but not inside of a return) go to Return Manager – Forms – Customize Master Forms – Select Sch A – Open Forms – Jump to Linked Field on Line 5 – and enter the amount on Line 29/30 (Note that this has to be done on the server if you are running a server) Client Letter According to CS this is not an option
  12. While we're at it, I was also wondering if there was a way to roll over the PY client letters, instead of having to re-edit them each time.
  13. Hi guys, new to the boards here! I heard that you could set the "Local General Sales Tax Rate" to be your locality's as a default. Can anyone help me with this. I didn't see anything about that in the PDF guide. *Looking to start 2015 right*
