KC, I am so sorry. Prayers and good wished are still coming.
-
IT's very annoying. I couldn't even get to the knowledge base. I will try again next month.
-
I'm sorry, K.C. Will keep praying for his recovery and for your family.

ATX website and server must be down
NECPA in NEBRASKA replied to NECPA in NEBRASKA's topic in General Chat
Don't necessarily believe the last ATX email. I did delete temp internet files and cookies and it didn't help. I still received server errors for a long time. I'm sure that it is on their side. -

At least you can get on the other forum. I have been trying to several days and cannot get on at all. I have deleted everything that they told me to and it still hates me. -

I'm talking to ATX now. They have made me change all kinds of settings in my computer and I know it's not my fault. -

Thanks. It makes me feel a little better that it's not just me. -
Is anyone else having trouble e-filing now? I was doing fine and now am getting server errors and cannot get onto their website at all. Thanks!

Mom is supposed to amend it when she gets back home. Hopefully, she can handle it with Turbotax.
-
Unfortunately, her return is at the parent's home in another state and her mom is away on business for another week so she can't amend it yet. They will owe a substantial amount if we e-file the return without her exemption. Her mom did her return on Turbotax and didn't even think about the fact that they couldn't both claim her. I got this client years ago, when I had to amend their Turbotax return. You'd think that they would have learned.
-
I tried to find the answer, but I must not be using the correct search words. Client's e-file rejected because daughter claimed herself. They will amend her return. Can they paper file this return as is without having to amend both returns? I know it used to be that way. Thank you

I don't know how I'm going to get finished and don't know why I'm not shaking yet. Normally, I am sick by now, but I think that I'm just numb.

I cleared my temp files, cookies and history and still can't get it using IE or Chrome. I've changed my password three times today, because it keeps locking me out. They must not like me anymore.
-
Thanks. I will clear my cache or something because I can't use the knowledge base either.

I found that out the hard way this year when I purchased the Accountant's version for 2012 for the first time. I thought that it would be easier, but I had to buy the 2012 for one client that had upgraded and then it wanted me to pay some more money so that I could open the transfer file that he e-mailed to me. It wouldn't open my other client's old files, so then I had to reinstall. I hate QuickBooks. I will not let any of them send me Accountant's copies anymore., because it cost me valuable time. My new version does have some nice features that Pro didn't have, but was not worth the extra money for me.

Has anyone tried to go on there recently? I have tried for a couple of days and it just goes in a circle; Proceed to ATX Communities and then Community Board takes me back to the same place. Surely, they didn't dump it in April again!

Thank you, Old Jack. I don't believe that his estate will be over the allowed amount.
-
Thanks, Kea. I don't think that they will want to pay income tax on income tax on money that they are giving out and then just getting it back. He still owes $70,000 and they don't want to throw them out with no where to live. Maybe they can just gift it to him, file the gift return and be done with it. I will have to check after tax season.

Carolyn, Go to view; other return filters; check incomplete. I forget how to do this every year and have to keep looking for it.

I don't know a lot about gifting, especially in this family situation. Parents rented house for many years to their son and his family at FMV. In 2003 they sold the house to them in an installment sale. He had been making the payments until he lost his job in 2010 and made no payments in 2011. The parents would like to gift him the house and reduce his inheritance. I told them that they would have to file a gift tax return and that they would be able to make gift amounts to his wife and kids, if they wanted to. My question is what happens to the remaining gain in the installment sale if they gift it to them? Do they just gift it at the balance owed? I do not know what the FMV of the house is now, but I understand that the son hasn't taken very good care of it. I'm sorry if this is a simple question, but I don't normally get into gifting issues and I am really burned out. Thanks!

I'm still working at 1:30. I am so tired, but I want to print this one and try to go to bed. I am so sick of people calling and emailing me about when their taxes are going to be done. Good Lord, go to a bigger firm and stop bitching! I can only work so many hours and I didn't even win the lottery!

I am so sorry KC. I am praying for both of you and your family.

Welcome to Nebraska returns. We give no income tax breaks for social security or retirement pay. Almost everything here is taxable except US Govt interest and NE munis. There is a deduction for Railroad Retirement. I have many clients that moved out of state to more afforadable tax states and mail me their tax returns from wherever they landed.

Congratulations to everyone that received their certificates.

Thanks, KC. I have learned so much from his posting over the years, just as I have learned from yours and many others. I will keep in my prayers. Bonnie
