  1. I also noticed the new personalized avenue ads they're showing - the couple above a room of preparers they're trying to find the right one. I highly doubt that service is immediately available to customers. Meaning if you want a specific person you'll have make an appointment and wait - many customers like their walk-in service.

  2. My question is the difference between 'qualifying' and actually being due a credit. Many 'qualify' to take the CTC but due to income deductions do not use the credit nor get it back in the ACTC. I have not found answers about this discrepancy either. As well as, Social Security Disability qualifying. And that one hits home because my ex and his wife receive Social Security Disability and do not have to file anymore - he lets me claim all the kids now when we used to split. Are they at least eligible for $300 a piece?

  3. The first FeeCollect I did took until the following Monday before I received my deposit - but the taxpayer received theirs on the proper Friday. This week the taxpayer deposits were made to their accounts and I received my fees on Friday. There was an announcement made by SBBT that some deposits were not received in time this week. You can also go to the SBBT website and run various reports about FeeCollect and other bank products you may have through them. If it's your first year you need the number they sent you in a mailing after acceptance in the program - otherwise just use the same info as last year. I would also recheck the ACK info for that return and make sure there was no debt code and/or the acceptance date warranted a Friday deposit...and hour later than required and it kicks to the next Friday.

  4. I had 2 more FeeCollects go through today. I checked my account, the SBBT reports, MyATX info, and even the e-file info on My ATX. Everything I see only shows the $15.00 fee. I have no listing of any other fees from anywhere. I even checked the credit card I used to purchase my software - nothing so far. Keep me posted on what they tell you (if you actually get a response from them); a seemingly simple operation is getting more and more complicated. Good Luck to you.

  5. I had posted about this possiblity earlier in the season. At first the support person I talked to said there was an additional charge for the FeeCollect of $10.00 - of which $6 was supposed to go to CCH and $4 to us the preparer for 'upgraded software'. After I did finally get the FeeCollect to work, my first one went through fine - no extra charge. I have not had a chance to check the ones scheduled for tomorrow/Monday. I use Max with unlimited efile. It makes me wonder what's going on. Some people are making it sound like it's going to treated just like any other bank product. Last year we were told although it went through a bank it was not a true bank product. It will be interesting to see how this all works out.

  6. I do love these. Just like the phone call I just received wondering if a man can claim HOH for his girlfriend living with him all year. No one else - just the girlfriend. While some may try to justify this position I don't really think it's what was intended when the uniform definitions were created, IMHO.

  7. I agree with you completely. I have wondered if part of the reason the original community was taken down wasn't because alot of it was complaining and slurring. I too have rarely had to call support. I sincerely hope that ATX as the product we enjoy continues to exist.

  8. Just wanted to let others know that I finally did receive my first FeeCollect deposit today. Called the client and they had their expected refund and my fee was deposited in full. So, whoever I talked to earlier in the season was mistaken or CCH changed their minds. The only other amount taken out was the $15 SBBT charge. I also doublechecked at MyATX billing and there were no charges either. Not sure why it took so long to get the FeeCollect going to start with, but it is working properly now - and at the original stated cost. Hope the info helps someone.

  9. We don't have a Liberty Tax in Manitowoc...yet...saw one in nearby Appleton last year. They were after me when it was only $5K to get a franchise. I actually sat in on one of the telephone seminars and really didn't like it when the guy explained that me role would change from preparer to advertiser...Uhmm wouldn't I have trained in advertising then...LOL.

  10. First I had a 10 yr client call me and say 'I have to change my appt to such and such a day at noon. I jokingly say, 'Noon! When do I eat lunch?!' He says - non-jokingly - that's your problem. Then I have a neighbor who's son goes to school with mine - and I mean walks to school with him everyday. Still, she insists her out-of-state ex husband is claiming HOH, Dep..etc...She ends up owing every year...then I have an out-of-town referral come late (7pm) they have only W2's and rent and are not happy with the refund amount I told them. Literally, as soon as I've finished my final check of info (which includes entering 6 W2's worth of info as it not in the Payer Manager) the phone rings...they want to know if they can have their info back to see if they can't get more back! 8879 signed - FeeCollect (which is working properly now) signed!..Arghhhhh. I swaer, if anyone gets them more back..it's fraud...just venting a bit
