B. Jani
I have one non resident efile for MA. I found form 8453 but not 8879. Do MA have one or not. Please help. TIA.
Kea
I find this website to be helpful with general rules for state efiles: http://accountants.intuit.com/support/tax/ef-atlas/?product=LACERTE_TAX When you click on MA, it says you have to keep the 8453 for 3 years & doesn't mention the 8879. So I would infer that they only use the 8453.
Guest Taxed
MA has no form # 8879. The MA efile authorization is 8453. If you paper file in MA make sure you get the taxpayer to sign a form called EFO.
Catherine
Paper file in Mass there is also a checkbox on the bottom of page 1 of the return saying "I do not want my preparer to file electronically" -- don't forget to check that, as well.
