E-File Rejected Deposit by Bank

Have any of you submitted an e-file and had the bank reject the deposit because the checking box was selected on the e-file transmission rather than the savings box or an account was closed --- if so, do you know how long the IRS takes to send a paper check to the taxpayer.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

The checking account numbers and the savings account numbers are not the same. In my experience, the banks usually go by the account numbers and not by what is checked.

I have had banks reject the deposit - sometimes for stranger reasons than that. It usually takes about 4 - 6 weeks for t/p to get check after rejection, in my experience in prior years. State of Virginia is sometimes faster even with this. I have not had it happen this year (yet!) so can't be sure your experience will be the same as mine from previous years.

I had the credit union here in my small town (15,000) reject 5 of mine for that very reason. They were being "TOO" picky. They were standing on the exact letter of the rule, instead of just putting it in the account. Every bank has their own standards, and most have forgotten who truly is the customer.
