schirallicpa
My client qualifies for a moving expense as he had to move from PA to NY to accept a new job. The 3903 info automatically fills in on the pa forms. I'm thinking that he should not get a benefit in pa since he moved out of pa. But my expertise is limited on PA. Any experts out there???? jklcpa
They are not allowed when moving out of PA. This from the PA DOR website, see pg 2, right-hand column: http://www.revenue.pa.gov/FormsandPublications/FormsforIndividuals/Documents/Personal Income Tax/rev-637.pdf Edited March 2, 2017 by jklcpa added link

rfassett
This also from the PA website What type of expenses can be claimed on Part E of the PA Schedule UE? Answer ID 3208 | Published 10/28/2014 03:06 PM | Updated 03/29/2016 03:57 PM What type of expenses can be claimed on Part E of the PA Schedule UE? A taxpayer may deduct moving expenses if the move is more than 35 miles from the old workplace to the new work place. You must continue to work for the same employer to claim this moving expense. You will need to calculate the mileage difference as the change in mileage between the new residence and the old duty station and the original residence and the new duty station. We do not accept the federal Schedule 3903 or 4782. Allowable expenses: 1. Costs of transporting the employee and immediate family to the new location. 2. Costs of moving household goods if paid directly by the employee. 3. Costs of moving personal belongings and household furnishings, including in-transit storage charges. 4. Travel, meals, and lodging expenses during the actual move from the old home to the new home. Not allowable expenses: 1. Selling or purchasing a house 2. Breaking a lease or house hunting 3. Securing lodging prior to moving or the day after arriving at the new workplace location 4. Seeking new employment 5. Moving for your own convenience 6. Relocating to a new job or workplace less than 35 miles farther than your old commute to work 7. Moving anywhere other than within PA

I didn't look at that post because I don't have firsthand experience with per diem & truckers.
