I'm having difficulty updating forms for ATX 2006

Hi. I'm actually making an account and asking this for my dad. He's not very good with computers and I don't really know tax programs so we're both at a loss with this. When we try to open a file(is that what you would call them? a return, maybe?), it says that the forms in the return are later versions than those installed on the computer and so the forms on the computer need to be updated. I click on "Update Now" and it makes a half-hearted attempt and then tells me that an internet connection was not found. This happens, mind you, while I'm using Firefox to dig through this forum.

I tried just having it attempt without checking for a connection but it still fails. I took a cursory glance over the firewall settings and have searched here for threads related to our problem but haven't found a reason for why the program can't detect a connection or a solution for the problem. I'm going to take a closer look at the firewall settings but I thought it would be a good idea to get this posted first.

I have the list of forms we need to update and tried to go to MyATX to download them individually but we're having trouble logging in. Have the services for this outdated version begun to deteriorate or is this probably a problem with our installation/computer/internet connection?

Thanks

I'm not using ATX this year. But, since no one else is on this yet... Try using Internet Explorer instead of Firefox. I like Firefox, too; but it does not play well with all programs. There are some very computer savvy posters on this board who will give you lots of help, soon.

It should be simple to update the forms, so perhaps it is the browser you are using. I'd try using IE, and if that does not work, then call tech support. Clearly there is something wrong with some setting, and ATX tech support can probably fix it faster than you can even find it. They can do that interactively.

If he is clicking the update button in ATX, I don't think the browser he used really matters. I use Firefox myself not IE as I think it is more secure.

Check your preference and check the "Internet" tab.

Does he have a high speed continuous connection to the internet. Is this box checked?

Note everyone, have you ever since ATX pull up our browser when you update this way?

I for one have not and therefore believe ATX handles this internally.
