Terry O
Ok - -federal agent moved from NY to VA in May and was unaware that he was having DC withholding instead of VA until he changed his address on the W-4 in Nov. when they closed on the new house. From May to Nov they were renting in VA. Now I have 3 different states, however, he never resided in DC. Is there anyone familiar with this situation? Thanks! Lion EA
DC NR return to get his withholding back, but check the instructions for DC and VA returns to see if there's a reciprocity agreement that could simplify how you file for this client. Pacun
THANK YOU - -will do! I am from DC and you need to file form D-40B. Make sure to fill out page 2. You pay taxes where you live regardless where you work if you live in DC, MD or VA. I would attach copy of the state VA filing when requesting the refund.
