  1. For ATX to work, all the server services must be running. To check that, bring up Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc or Alt+Ctrl+Del), go to the Services tab and look for the ATX Server services and start them if they're stopped (right click). You'll have to be more specific about not being able to log into 2020 & 2019.

  2. Back when IRA accounts were first created there was no Roth IRA account. In retrospect If I had been able to contribute to a Roth back then I would have NEVER contributed to a regular IRA account. The line back then was something like "You get a tax deduction by contributing now and on retirement you will likely withdraw your earnings at a reduced tax rate". I am sure that rang true for many. For me my RMD's place me in a higher marginal tax bracket. Frankly I would have been better served by simply buying regular mutual funds and paid the tax. All my capital gains in my IRA accounts are taxed at my highest rate instead of the 15% or 20% that would otherwise be the case. If they came from a Roth no tax. If I were a young taxpayer just getting started the Roth is the way to go.

  3. Just an announcement, I have passed all three parts and the EA exam and have submitted my application for Enrollment. For those who are considering becoming an EA, I will tell you the three parts are not a cake walk but are not as difficult as when there were four parts. I tried becoming an EA way back when it was a paper-pencil test. Didn't do well so I put it on the back burner until I retired from my teaching job. Fast forward 26 years and here we are. For those who are new or seasoned EA's did you join the NAEA? They are offering a good discount for new EA's just wondering if it is worth the investment. Opinions please.

  4. First, thanks to all who helped me with my 2 Factor Authentication Issue (especially Abby Normal). It only took 1 week and dozens of calls to get lucky. Now my Rollover returns cannot be found and I can no longer log into ATX 2020, ATX 2019... I survived the 2012 ATX FIasco, but think next year I am out. I am a one man shop and dont have an IT department needed to run the unstable ATX product. I am a stand alone install and apparently the servers are screwed up. Any ideas? Thanks!

  5. Interesting since this only applies to IRA Contributions. If you are still working and participating in a SIMPLE Plan or 401 k, maxing out the annual contribution limit, there is no restriction or limitation. Not a very equitable application of tax law.

  6. It's under Manage Users. Simply uncheck the box and be done with it.

  7. I used Gleim which is much harder than the actual tests. However, with Gleim you will definitely learn which makes it better in my opinion. I wanted to advance my knowledge as well pass the tests.

  8. Maybe part of why you think I’m so young is that I still have the same photo up as when the site was started! we didn’t have a big TV until I went to college, but we did have several 13” black & white TVs by the time I left. I don’t remember the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, but do remember Guilda Radner on SNL.
