  1. It's not only gas. All other costs that factor in have increased with depreciation being the largest component, and vehicle prices aren't down. Other items of insurance, maintenance and repairs all have increased too with the latter due to materials and labor costs.

  2. Why did your clients sign up for the Dependent Care FSA if one spouse doesn't work and was available to care for the child? I find the credit to be extremely valuable for working couples. With one child, only $3k of child care expenses can be used to calculate the credit. By taking the Dependent Care FSA, $5k is not subject to income or employment taxes, which saves a bundle. With more than one child, they get that benefit plus another $1k to calculate the credit.

  3. If IRS keeps this crap up, there will be 100% of preparers not subject to circular 230. We can all just hang a shingle and forget professional certification. Buy a copy of turdo tax and off we go. Tom Longview, TX

  4. Paid by the inch? And just how did you calculate that? Reminds me when our dad used to pay us for each dandelion we pulled out of the yard with the puller gizmo. Who counted when we each had a bushel basket filled to various heights? We lived in a rural area, so money didn't mean much anyway because there was nowhere to spend it.

  5. Just upgraded from three 24 inch monitors to three 32 inch curved monitors. Measured horizontally, it's just shy of 7 feet of screen space, because screens are measured horizontally. My eyes are so happy! (Excuse the mess!)

  7. There were 849,531 PTINs issued for 2024. 464,293 were for tax preparers that were not subject to Circular 230.
