  1. Yes, so did I. However, that didn't work. When I tried to open a return I got the .....has encountered a problem and needs to close message. So Marilyn on the other forum suggested that I delete the assets folder then run the update. Did that. Still can't open a 1040 return. So I did it again. Now the updates are running so slowly I don't think I'll be ready for my first appointment in an hour. Heavy sigh.
  2. I tried to open a return this morning that I had worked on last night. I get a message that the form 1040 version required is 123 and the version installed is 129. I had this problem several days ago with 1099G but it was fixed with the program update. I have run the updates. I tried to download just form 1040 from the download center but it doesn't show up in the list. I also tried to download the program update from the website, but it won't download to my desktop when I say to save it. I should mention that I am using Win 7 on a relatively "clean" computer. I searched the knowledge base - nothing. I tried to download using IE. I searched both forums and haven't found this particular problem. Any suggestions?

  5. It is just a warning. You can still efile the return. It says "Additional Due Diligence Information worksheet will not be e-filed. Be sure to retain for 3 years from the latest of the dates in instruction under Document Retention".
  6. ARGGGG! Now what? I uninstalled the program and reinstalled from the download center. And the updates. Now I can't open any returns. So I uninstalled again, searched my computer and found another folder which contained some ATX2012 stuff and deleted that. I will now install from the CD and see what happens. Has anyone had any luck with doing this?
  7. I tried this fix and it didn't work for me on XP. I have tried all of the fixes and nothing has worked so far. So I exported the returns I have done so far to a thumb drive and deleted ATX. I am now reinstalling and will suffer through the downloads. If this finally gives me my desperately needed sch eic, it will be worth it.
  8. I am running Win XP and probably with less RAM than most. I have very few problems. So far the only one is not being able to add Sch EIC to the return. My printing is fast, rollovers take about 10 seconds. I print my copy to docuprinter. I shred unwanted pages that are printed. This is not to say that I am happy with this program, because I certainly am not. It is not user friendly....even though my printing is fast, I hate not know what is going to print out.
  9. After installing the 12.5 version I could not open any returns. So I went back to the "old" version and will wait until tomorrow at 3:30am and download 12.5. Good luck out there.
  10. Oops, I guess I spoke too soon. Since making the suggested change I cannot open a return. I've tried rolling over the return again, duplicating then deleting the original return and trying to make a new return. When I do this I get the dreaded error message. I haven't rebooted my computer so I will try that next.
  11. Thank you so much TaxMan! It is now downloading 1088 forms so I am hoping this works. I use satellite for my internet and it is very foggy and icy so I will probably have to try downloading several times. Luckily I wasn't able to go to my "real job" because the roads up here in rural Michigan are too icy. I am glad you are an early riser! Frannie
  12. "Try using your windows "search" feature to find it. It even searches hidden files. I have the 2012 program loaded in xp and found assets that way. It was in Documents and settings. I didn't try deleting it as I have no forms installed and no internet for this computer to load any. Only what came on the cd. Earlier (above) I told you that deleting "assets" and reloading all the forms fixed my forms problem but my system is windows 7 not xp. The same fix MIGHT work but it might not. Be very careful..." So I tried this and I still can't find it. I used to be good at figuring this stuff out. What happened to me? Too much beer and stuff back in the 70's?
  13. I have tried going to C:program dataCCHSmall Firm Services Atx2012Assets. I don't have "program data" in the list. Maybe I am not doing it right. I am running Win XP Pro. I went to "run" and then typed in "C:program dataCCHSmall Firm Services Atx2012Assets" and it said that "program data" wasn't there. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help.
  14. I posted this on "the other forum". I thought I should post it here also. I am ready for the onslaught of negative replies....so let 'er rip. I was very happy with the program the way it was. No, I didn't vote or give any kind of feedback. So I do take some blame. We (ATXers) were asking for a lot of changes in the program. My favorite motto is "be careful of what you wish for". We wanted a low cost program with high cost capabilities. Another motto comes to mind "you get what you pay for". This program is, so far, OK on my Win XP Pro - 5 year old computer. I am a one person office and cannot afford a more expensive program. I prepare about 270 returns a year. For those of you who prepare many more returns and run on a network, I ask you, why in the heck won't you pay out the extra few hundred dollars to get a program that is more in line with your needs? I work a "real job" for $9.00 an hour because I need very good health insurance (stage IV metastatic melanoma) and I do taxes after I have worked from 5:30 am til 2:30 pm, all day Saturday and Sunday because I can't live on $9.00 an hour. And my clients wouldn't let me quit even if I could afford to. So quit complaining about getting what you wished for and paid for.
  15. I am running Win XP Pro. I cannot find that "assets" folder. Meantime I have prepared several more returns (all rolled over from last year) and after the rollover the box that pops up with the forms listed that are not ready, Sch EIC is one of them. 8867 is available. Has anyone actually been able to load Sch EIC yet?
  16. I've already told my clients that I am not sending in their returns until Feb. 2. I don't believe that ATX or the IRS will be able to handle the crush. Surprisingly my clients have been OK with this....so far.
  17. Yeah, I had that problem too. I found out that I had to us Admin as the username. The A must be a capital A. Then my password worked. I hope this works for you.
  18. I am not able to add Sch EIC to a return. The program shows that it is installed, but it won't load to the return. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks
  19. In 1986 I would buy my forms that were a set of three copies with the carbon paper attached so I could just rip of the top and separate the pages. I also went to my clients houses with my crate of forms and publication 17 and a solar calculator (probably one of the first made). I still use that calculator! My first laser printer still works. Ooooh, 4 pages a minute! There are brief moments that I miss doing a return by hand. Everyone should learn how to do a form 2210 by hand!
  20. I received an email from EzTax Return saying that they can efile on January 22 when no on else can. I'm sure it's not true. How can they say that, legally, I mean. I have attached a copy of the email I received. ez tax return.htm
