  1. Thanks so much for that clarification, KC. I had to read and reread the entire paragraph a couple of times to make sure I understood and could believe it. It makes me feel so much better now! But what would be an example of an Online Provider? The only thing I could come up with was IRS free file! Umm, maybe Turbo Tax online, too? Thanks again for soothing my angst.
  2. I hope you are correct but don't believe it, at least not yet. Did you actually go to the website url I gave above? I don't actually see either pub you mentioned. What I do see is the word "mandated." If you would, please show me where those publications mention anything about IRS e-file safeguarding. I quickly checked them on IRS website and did not see where either one addresses efiling. I will look again but think this is a different animal.
  3. Well, Deb, that is my interpretation as an ERO. Because client data is on your system that goes to the tax software provider for submission, it would be included. I do have a website and do a lot of email exchanges with clients and their data. I do use password protection with Adobe and have an SSL on my site but it may not be enough. I will be calling the host, fortunately in the US! I also have to begin calling the "authorized" companies to see the cost for weekly! challenges. I will be 64 soon. Maybe it is time...even though I thought I could work until at least mid-70's.
  4. I received the basic information via a QuickAlerts from IRS yesterday. I followed the links to http://www.irs.gov/efile/article/0,,id=205377,00.html In the fall, IRS announced it was taking comments regarding this proposal. I guess it is now required.
  5. What are you folks doing about these requirements? I am seriously looking at retirement! The biggest hurdle I see is the financial burden of contracting to have weekly scans of my system. I also don't find the "minimum encryption standards." I will be on the phone with my website host about my SSL certificate. How can I "implement effective technologies to protect (my) Web site against bulk filing of fraudulent income tax returns?" What technologies? Faxes and paper returns again?

  9. And that, Eric, is why you get the big bucks! I did try the search stuff but could only find things back to May 9. Guess I did it incorrectly but am so glad you came through. So what did you use for search words? TRX didn't work. When I tried clicking on my name to search for all my posts, that didn't work. Hmmm, between my aged eyes, creaky knees, and ineptitude with searching, perhaps it's time to call it at least a day. Thanks for your help, again, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
  10. Last spring, just after tax season, several folks were considering using the TRX product anticipating the demise of ATX software and/or service. TRX was selling TaxWise rebranded as TRX-TW and began selling ATX, too. Quite a few of us, after many assurances that the product would be the REAL ATX, availed ourselves of the offers at a substantial discount. Subsequently, CCH stepped in and cut off the supply to TRX but honored those already sold. We fortunate folks who risked our cash on the barrelhead then appear to be really lucky. We have the product we really wanted (ATX) at the price we wanted to pay. But I think many of us were prepared to order ATX without the discount if dissatisfied with what TRX provided. Now CCH is providing the service and it appears as though we are being treated as CCH/ATX customers. We'll see. I doubt this will happen again but think that TRX is developing inhouse a product for next year. Much of the discussion occurred in April and May. When I searched for my posts then, it looks as if they have been deleted; maybe too old or too boring! Anyway, this is the gist of it.
  11. I just now received mine, too. I am so pleased that it appears to be all ATX. This is my first time with Total Tax Office as well. I don't even know if I will use it but it will be fun to explore.
  12. Is everything labeled TRX or ATX? Any differences that you can tell? My Fedex truck usually comes in the afternoon so maybe I will get mine, too!
  13. Jack from Ohio, you said it all. I am reprinting this beautiful message to offer as a blessing Thursday. One additional item to add is, of course, the blessing of this board and the 1000 colleagues here so willing to share time and knowledge unselfishly. Thanks to all and have a wonderful day of giving thanks.

  15. In Large Text it does go to another line with 800x600. In ATX Community and Clean Cut, it does not. In Clean Cut that row is wider, though and the titles are staggered. I have been switching between the regular and Clean Cut trying to decide.
  16. Eric, you are so sweet to tweak! It still is my issue, though, and with no one else expressing an opinion on this, it is just the way it is. When I open the screen (to General Chat), of the 10.5 horizontal inches available, 2 are the blue bar with IE, the url box, the File, Edit, etc. list and the tabs. The next 8.5 inches are the web site header and the pinned topics. So I always have to scroll down to see even the first topic. I can live with this, though, and really appreciate all you have done and are doing for the 999 others. You have been gracious enough to offer a couple of solutions which, for me, were not viable although genuinely appreciated. Thanks again and have a most blessed Thanksgiving; you are a blessing to all here, for certain!
  17. Eric, congratulations go to you for providing this obviously valuable and appreciated space for 1000!!! professionals to exchange information. I do need to defer congrats to me, I am only in the mid-600's, and refer you to Catherine who well deserves your wishes.
  18. :bday: and many more!
  19. Woo Hoo! Congratulations, Catherine! Now get better soon so that you can enjoy your exalted position properly! And thanks for all the sage advice and counsel within those 1000 posts. You help us all by sharing your knowledge.

  22. Well, you are the best! I found the answer under Tools. Just unclick the Full Screen option. It didn't register earlier that the Tools icon in the Tabs bar was the same Tools menu in the File Edit, View, etc. bar. But now all is back to my comfort zone, arrows, menu bar, tabs. And I've learned even more about computer capabilities and options. Too much for me! And I think I will, for now, let my function keys rest. Thanks again!
  23. Okay, now I've gone and done it and can't get back. I tried Firefox with the same results with F11. Then I tried the other option, View something or other. And now I can't get the tool bars back or, my choice, the arrows and tabs to stick. The arrows and tabs return if I use the mouse but don't stay so I can't easily get to other sites like My Favorites. I can't get back to the View something or other either. I still use IE7 per my computer guys recommendation. I didn't see any advantages for me to stay with IE8 but then I am not the techie user so many others on this forum are! Anyway, if you now have suggestions on how to get my tool bar back, my menu and arrows and tabs to stay, I would be grateful. I have closed everything and reopened but not rebooted as yet. Actually trying to get some work done in the meantime!
  24. Thanks for the education! Breadcrumbs, eh? Clever, makes sense. In my lower left corner I have only ATX Community and ATX Community (Large Text) as options. I don't see a third option, the Clean Cut. I tried the F11 again to no avail. I wonder if that works only on one monitor or the primary monitor. I have my browser permanently open on my second monitor. The principal seems to address one of my issues, though, minimizing or hiding the extra browser stuff at the top. Maybe I will call my computer guy to see if he knows any tricks!
