My apologies if I missed it: how are folks solving the above error? It is driving me nuts!

    Phone call to tech support.

  2. For a land contract to be initiated, there must have been an amortization schedule made out, showing interest, principal, and an itemized print out showing the whole loan.  It is NOT your responsibility to keep up with that information.  Use whatever basis information you can get.  Let him pay the taxes.

I am already growing weary of babysitting grown, (supposedly intelligent) adults with things like this.

That may be true for 1099s but SSA BSO is open for filing, and the SSA submission file creation in ATX shouldn't be affected by the MeF opening date since that file doesn't go through the ATX server and is a direct upload to SSA.  I just filed through SSA BSO and had no problems (not ATX though).

"ATX won't efile 1099's or w-2 error with wrong version", is the title of this thread.  No mention of SSA BSO or any other issue.

It is still not January 27, 2020.

On what date will efile open for filing 2019 Form 1099? Tried to file them tonight and get the message that "the service is unavailable at this time".

January 27, 2020.  Nothing before that date.

For more information, Google The Tax Book Windows 7 Should No Longer Be Used for Tax Preparation.  Microsoft has announced that support for Windows 7 ends on January 14, 2020.

Put me in the "Boy that cried wolf," and Chicken Little "The sky is falling" group. I have heard this kind of "Panic modeling" so many times, it bores me, and is quite annoying.  Think "Y2K."

  6. I see nothing but bad things, by putting a "Donor" tag on certain people.  I have contributed, and will contribute in the future.  Other than this discussion, there is no reason for anyone to know that I donated.  It is "MY" business, what I do with my money.

I vote to remove the "Donor" tags.

  7. How is everyone handling the process of filling out the new W-4 for our clients?  Should we be charging for the time and effort we expend, to explain (HA HA) to them how it works?  I just spent 45 minutes doing just that.  I can tell you, she does not understand one bit better, than before our "class."

I have companies demanding that employees fill out a new W-4.  I thought it was voluntary?

    Ideas? Thoughts?

I can't seem to avoid Windows 10 any longer. Have some shopping questions:

Looking at 16 for memory. Would more be of any use?

Is a touch screen of any use for ATX?

How many past years can ATX run with Windows 10?

Have already learned that SSD and UBS 3 are great.

    Thanks.

Send me PM, and I will put you on track with the company that builds my system.

  9. We have seen several clients, that used Form 982, and marked insolvency, that the IRS wants documentation of the insolvency.  For some clients, the debt was forgiven 2-3 years earlier.  Finding documentation for everything on the Insolvency worksheet, is nigh on to impossible.

Hi. I sent a message yesterday to ATX chat regarding upgrading our server from a Windows 7 platform to Windows 10. I was given instructions on how to move to a whole new computer. We are not doing that. Everything is staying on the same machine. We’re just upgrading it to Windows 10. Can someone please tell me if there is anything we need to be aware of (do’s and don’ts) or if there are any updates that will need to be made with our ATX server software prior to making the switch? We have ATX 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 all housed on our server. Thanks!

Find a qualified computer tech and buy a new computer.  There is a chance that the server you are using will not support WIN10.

I upgraded our entire network to WIN10, and replaced 5 out of 12 workstations, for that very reason.

I have been through it.  Get new hardware.  Bite the bullet, otherwise, you will have never ending troubles from now on.

Why are 941x  being rejected?  I filed amended 941x for 1 and 2 qtr 2018 and they were rejected as duplicates.  Same thing with 941x amending 1st qtr 2019.  I am beginning to think that this software does not permit 941x to be filed electronically.  The technical support was not helpful.  Had to paper file.

All amended forms, must be paper filed.  This is never going to change.  The IRS set the rule, not the software providers.

    Copied from IRS e News:

"Early reporting replaces Form W-2 Verification Code – IRS thanks all participants

Federal law now requires employers to submit Forms W-2 by January 31 each year, which helps the IRS combat fraud and identity theft and superseded the need for a verification code.

This has been in place now for 3 years.

i called them they gave me a 50% discount to stay.

What was your salesperson's name?  When it was time for me to renew, my salesperson refused to give any discount at all.  I WAS a 20 year customer, but that made no difference.  They wanted to increase my subscription price by 400%.

What is this, about WIN10 having remote access built in?

I remove the hard drive, put it in a vise and drill holes through it, a lot of holes and the process feels like therapy because I feel good that I have moved on to a new computer.

Perfect!  They also make good stress relivers, when me and my 9mm need relief.  Nice targets at 15', and you should see them spin as they take flight....

  15. Giving a used computer to Goodwill, is the same as giving them a can of trash.  It will have no value to anyone, and will cost Goodwill to have it disposed of.

Remove the HD, take a ball peen hammer to it thoroughly, then dispose of it. and the rest of the computer at an electronics recycling center.
