  4. Client filled out estimates based on last years return for the FAFSA application. Husband was going to bring final numbers to me today. (Sch C). Last night his truck burned up. (some people will do anything HaHa) Wife is up set and wants to do MFS to get a return in for the FAFSA people. They are seperted but her income is only 900 from daycare. ( he pays for every thing) Would you do the MFS (and amend later to include husbands income). Feeling pressured
  5. Thi is not legal expenses. It is a person to protect your money from family members who were abusing power of atorney because you were declared incompitent to handl your own affairs in cluding doctor visit paying bills and hiring some one to feed you. All Medical. Not because he is out of the country or in jail (just a couple of reasons some one hires a personal bookkeeper) but rather becase he is ILL. There fore Legal doesn't work.
  6. Client put new flooring and additional cabinet in her home office. Only income from home based business kind of like me. Question. would this be subject to the office to home precentage or 100 percent as it actually is.
  7. Thanks KC, Now if I could just get her to tell me her charge for the year. She is keeping that quite a secret. off hand, Do you know of a site I quote her. This return will go on extension so I can find a quote and get the info.
  8. Are Fiduciary services deductible. Client has severe demetia and courts ordered a fiduciary to take over his health and financial affairs. Are these deductible as medical. I know personal services for the blind are.
  9. Medicare part be goes on selfemployed med insur. 1040 How to get it off the A without deleteing it on the SS worksheet
  10. Father took one child. Father did not qualify for HOH because he did not PAY household expenses.
  11. Children father and mother live with maternal grandmother. Grandmother does all support. Father got job aug of last year. Father wants to claim children and claim EICTC. Does Father qualify? Grand mother has claimed on her return Mother and children for several years (Mother does not work no income). My thinking Both Father and GrandMother qualify and higher income is the tie breaker Father does not qualify under these conditions. Am I right foot note. Grandmother doesn't care one way or the other, Just want to be right.
  12. Thanks I guess we are all mentally stressed more this year than normally. Thanks again rfassett.
  13. This is the same client I asked about earlier. Seniors one under 65. Program calculates eic but does not include with the efile or print. I know I can get it to print but what about the EFile? is this because they have no children or is it a mistake on ATX part. I hate ATX this year. Can't trust it at face value.
  14. Thanks for all your help. Yes the AGI was of course from earned income. W-2 from their Scorp of 6000 and 200 plus from part time job wife can't do any more. then lowered from 200 loss from k-1 of their scorp.
  15. Clients are 68 and 63. (one is under 65) for questin step 4 question 3 of eic questions. MFJ / one gets SS the other get SS disability. Total AGI 5,632. Total SS income not showing up in AGI 24,365. Program says YES to EIC. I,m Not sure. Do they Qualify or not.
  16. Last year we couldn't efile co 106. This year the efile info is coming up. Does that mean we can efile now?
  17. The prior year percentages were correct. Usually travels all arount country promoting his wares. At shows and establishments. This year because of ailing wife he just used internet and work of mouth.
  18. The program is calculating recapture on vehicle that was not sold. The prior depreciation is not showing the same as last year. Last years percentage is much greater. By the way this is an S corp. if I overide the prior it still calculates a recapture. This is only doing the bad calculation for one of the vehicles. The other calculates fine. Insight please.
  19. At the top of the 1099 R worksheet you will find a drop down to choose RRB-1099-R. Then a new set of field opens above payer's name that matches the railroad forms. Input there and it will flow. And yes that is the amount on line 16b of the 1040
  20. Same HSA client, Now tells me it is a self only not Family. (this is a new client) Last year preparer filed as Family plan. Client put in $119 to much. Where do I input the amount that will be taken out by due date of the return? 14b looks like the line but a bunny hop just takes me back to the 1099SA. Help please For such an easy return it is sure turning in to a hasselllll.
  21. Look at the bottom of the input page. where you would choose the page of the form after 1,2,3 "line 1 Part1 explanation" Will that do it for you. I don't have one needing a waiver so I can't check it out.
  22. Were the 2 tracts purchased for investment purposes? Purchased in 06 hold for 1 year. market crashes can't sell. now sells at loss sounds like investment to me. What were his original plans, investment or horse/cattle ranch or maybe like all my neighbors vineyard. That would determine it for me. any other opinions.
