  1. I have a return that Federal has been accepted. On e-file center the state shows rejected but no reject codes.

On my e-file program the state is listed as held. I have gone into the return and re-created it with no errors

but when I go to send it it still shows held. Can any one help> Thanks.

  2. Send an e-mail to customer support to get their attention.

I am having an issue with return check for Sch C and line for SE health insurance adjustment and they are really slow

figuring out the problem. So heads up to do a lot of check returns before the season really kicks in since it appears we are

testing the program. Let's keep those support people busy. Who knows, they may understand taxes before the season is over.

  3. Recent legislation provides targeted tax relief for Homeowners equal

to 90% of any tax increase (formerly 60%) over 12% for taxes paid in

2012 only. Dept of Revenue will figure the adjusted amount.

Refund rate will increase from 60% to 75% for 2013 and after.

  4. Now that tax season is over and I am looking back...I am

wondering why I had 2 clients auto withdrawal requests denied

by the IRS. The first was for $8 so I thought maybe there was

a minimum amt, but the other was $299. Any thoughts?

  5. Client just rec'd notice on 2010 1040 that IRS changed the computation of the SE tax. I cannot seem to figure out why - they don't give me much info only that they changed AGI to a lower amt and taxable income to a lower amount, but then increased the total tax on line 60. I went through the calculations on the program and they seem to be correct. He did have 2 Sch C businesses and had self-employment health insurance deduction. Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

    thanks,

I had similar situation...with my own son yet. He is self employed and has his own health insurance.

Wife is self employed (day care) and has her/family health insurance. I showed they owed $220 and

IRS sent letter and check for $1100 saying they corrected my error. However I spent over an hour on

the phone with IRS going over the return. The IRS subtracted both health insurance amounts from each

SE tax computation. They finally agreed that I was correct. I was so upset by this time that I told

the kids to cash the check and put it in savings and wait until (if?) IRS asks for money back. It is

hard enough to tell your own family that I was right and IRS was not, would my regular clients believe?

  6. I just called the other preparer out of curiosity to see exactly what was said... didn't find that out, but found out the reason for the call was because the preparers client got a check from IRS for the exact amount that the deduction would have yielded had it been on the SE.

There was no letter (at least the client says they didn't get one) and the preparer was trying to get to the bottom of it.

I also had a client get a refund check from IRS. In this situation both H&W are SE and both have their own health insurance.

The IRS wanted to deduct the entire health insurance deduction from each person before figuring SE. I told client to put check in

a savings acct until they ask for it back. It is easier than trying to return the check and tell the IRS they are wrong....

  7. A client asked me this question as his boss has offered

this deal...We are talking construction business here.

Boss owns vehicle and pays insurance and repairs.

Employee drives vehicle to and from home and work sites.

Can he take employee business expense for gas purchased

    and/or take mileage expense?

  8. I didn't realize the debt code indicator was gone, proof that the battery in my brain has died. I have a POA and receive each month's statement but was just curious about the ack. I never took notice of that code until this since I never got involved with RALs or any bank products, and have only had a couple of installment agreements where a refund like this was involved. Thanks for your responses.

Check "Where's My Refund" on IRS website. They give a good explanation

indicating where the refund may be going.

  9. OR the problem may be with the IRS in that 4 dependents are listed

but 3 qualify but are not top 3 listed...The more I look at the

form, I don't think there should be entries where some seem missing

and how do you tell a client $2000 will be delayed, and I am not

picking on him just because his PACKERS won the super bowl....

Has anyone else found the IRS more incompetent than usual this year?

  10. Latest form 8812 (version 22) still does not flow withholding tax

and medicare tax to line 7, even though the correct amount does

calculate. One unhappy Client will be getting a paper check for refund less

refundable addnl child credit because the numbers were missing.

Maybe it was something I did or didn't do, haven't heard back

    from Tech support...

  11. I am having trouble with MN getting tax returns

with SE tax adjustment and form M1NC accepted.

Reject code is 0252 but I double checked that

Ln 17 of M1M/Ln 17 of M1NC are same and

    Ln 36 M1M and Ln 18 M1NC are same. What am I

missing? I did the fed adjusted gross income

    recomputation. Any suggestions?
