  1. Same here. Now, we will see how IRS does with the refunds! Beckster
  2. Go to EF Center - Top tab "Database" - "All Federal" - Click on your client - Under Client Information Click "View EFile" (It's right next to name). You will see a drop down list of all forms that were sent to efile center. Hopefully this helps. beckster
  3. Thanks so much. I was wondering about that myself but didn't have a chance to ask. Beckster :)
  4. I have a client that has been living in his house for 8 years. His mortgage is 320,000, house is worth 100,000. For the last year, he has been trying to have his loan modified but to no avail. He has been making all his payments so his credit has not been affected. He is trying to keep his head above water, but slowly sinking. He is thinking of purchasing a new residence for 100,000 while his credit is still good and then letting his upside down residence go. He is so fed up. If he does this, is there anyway that he could be eligible for cancellation of debt for principal residence? (i.e. maybe live in home until foreclosed??) I really appreciate all the insight you share on this board.
  5. I'm sending them in. Plus, when I close the client in tax program I have added specialized lines in the progress status. This is so I know what I've done for the client (i.e. waiting for signatures, sent efile, etc). Also, California is a direct state so preparers will have to decide whether to send through CA return or wait until after Federal is accepted. Beckster
  6. Great idea John! Can we also request worksheets? Or should that be a different post? Beckster
  7. Hi Julie, The following is from FTB Website (I highlighted in purple) A Purpose of Form FTB 8879 Form FTB 8879, California e-file Signature Authorization for Individuals, must be completed when an individual e-file tax return is being signed using the Practitioner PIN method. By signing this form, the taxpayer authorizes the Electronic Return Originator (ERO) to enter the taxpayer’s personal identification number (PIN) on his or her 2010 e-filed California individual income tax return. This is a one-time authorization tied to this specific tax return. Form FTB 8879 does not serve as proof of filing – the acknowledgement containing the date of acceptance for the accepted tax return is that proof. Do not use form FTB 8879 if the taxpayer(s) will sign form FTB 8453, California e-file Return Authorization for Individuals, or will enter their own PIN and shared secret. I have to use Form 8879 because I input my client's PIN for them. I find this way much easier for me, because my computer is not accessible to the clients for them to input their PIN themselves. Happy Tax Season! Beckster
  8. Excellent. I thought I had to have duplex print checked to print double sided, but I don't! I unchecked duplex (found under "Settings" and "Printer and Delivery Settings") Then I print preview (which is in PDF form) all my tagged forms. Then from there I can go to print properties and ask for forms to print on both sides. Yay! Beckster
  9. Ok. Anyone else getting annoyed with the PDF format blank page after almost every form/schedule/worksheet? I am working around this by telling my printer what page numbers to print. Just had to vent. Enjoy your day. Beckster
  10. Search party successful! "Xpert" in State. Find "EF" form. Then "Carry Fed PIN Information to California" and click in the "Yes" box. Yay!
  11. I have input date info and an IRS 8879 is generated, but the California efile shows up as an 8453. I will send out a search party in my state forms and see what I find out. I will update my findings. Thx. Beckster
  12. TRX is erroneously using Form 8453 for electronically filing. It should be Form 8879. Ryan? I know you are out there. Thanks, beckster
  13. I agree with Gene. It's a glitch that needs to be fixed.
  14. Hello All! I was so happy to find this community. I received an ATX email survey this morning and I was just wondering if anyone else did. I have not yet clicked on the link to see what type of questions they are asking.
  15. Did you receive acknowledgement on your returns yet? Just wondering because I have a story to tell about this!
