  1. Yep. Tom Hollister, CA
  2. Does CA Accept E-files from a prior year? Thanks, Tom Hollister, CA
  3. Is ATX MeF compliant and can I e-file a 2011 return out of the software? Today? Thanks Tom Hollister, CA
  4. I have been toying with the idea of offering Federal Only Tax Prep services. That way I can only be regulated by the IRS. I don't think my clients would like it though. Tom Hollister, CA
  5. Sorry I did not get back to you sooner KC, but I went to San Jose to take my family out to Lunner (lunch + Dinner = Lunner). We were also looking at the San Jose State University campus for my oldest son who may end up there if some of his other colleges don't pan out. So I was forgeting about it while you were typing. Great minds think alike. The software is behind from a programing point. Do you remember the Great ATX E-File Disaster year when it was so bad they offered us airline tickets? That is what this year is shaping up to look like. But not because of e-file, because of programing bugs. Do you know that Jan 6th is only 10 days from our opening day of our tax season? Yes, I have some of those clients that come in the day they get their W2 and are holding for e-file to open. And when they leave the office, they expect to know what they are getting back and the day it is coming. So this year, I can't tell them what their refund is (ATX issues), when I can e-file it (congressional delays) or when they can expect the refund (IRS removal of the refund cycle chart). Looks like it is going to be fun until March. Tom Hollister, CA
  6. I loaded 12.1 the day it came out and the problems still happening after 12.1. Really looking forward to 12.2 to see if it resolves some issues. Tom Hollister, CA
  7. Your not listening KC. It is not lack of forms that anyone is griping about. It is the performance of the software. Way too many bugs in it. Yes, the tax forms will be late because of congress. I give ATX a pass on not having any forms. That said, I only have a 1040 in a return. it should open up. I should be able to roll it from last year without going into 2011 and opening, saving, and closing again. These are fundamental programming flaws. Tom Hollister, CA
  8. Unfortunately, right now that is the answer from ATX. Go into 2011, open, save, close, and then go to 2012 and open. I think it has something to do with the way a return is locked when completed. I don't think the forms update after you have completed and e-filed a return. So when they created the 2012 software, they took the latest update from 2011. But the returns you did in Feb and March may not have the "final" version of the form in them, so you need to open, update, and save again so the 2012 software can read the return. Just my wild guessing. But I know right now there is no fix for the error you are getting. There is supposed to be a new update coming on the 10th or 11th that will address the performance issues. Hopefully it will actually fix some of these major issues. Tom Hollister, CA
  9. When they say business forms, are they including Sch. C? That would be very important to know. Tom Hollister, CA
  10. Sorry KC you are off base with this one. I am giving CCH a pass on delivering forms, but the speed of the software is unacceptable. There are no forms to populate. I upgraded my computers this year to Win 7, Quad Core, 8GB ram machines. They scream through the 2011 software. It takes over a minute to open a return in 2012. I know you don't read the "other" board, but ATX is getting an earful. They are deleting posts from angry customers at a rate I have not seen since the birth of this board. There is a problem with the "enhanced" 2012 software. It does not run as fast as it should. This lends creedence to the statement that they made that they were unable to get the payroll forms into the new format. There is a problem with the new format they are running ATX on. It does not work and a lot of us are getting nervous about it. Do you know that I have to go into every one of my 2011 returns and open it, save it, and then close it again before I can open the return in 2012 software? I only have 200 +/- returns, so I can live with it. What if you have over 1000 returns? How can you live with that mistake? No fix offered yet by CCH. CCH has some big doo-doo to work through with their customers this year. I don't know if they will keep the product if they can't make it work like it used to. Tom Hollister, CA
  11. YES! I am now bloodied by KC. I have a warning point. Tom Hollister, CA
  12. You are such a kiss up to KC and Eric. I would not think anyone worth their salt as a seasoned ATXer would have at least 1 warning point. OOPS - I don't have any yet. KC - GET ME A WARNING POINT....PLEEEEEASE Tom Hollister, CA
  13. I have the distinction of having all my posts deleted and my screen name changed to anonymous because I point out how bad CCH support has become. They don't like me over there. I am trying to get that board shut down again. Tom Hollister, CA
  14. Yeah Eric. KC's points needsto be shown to all of us. She is the biggest rabble rouser of them all!!! IMHO. Just Kidding. Tom Hollister, CA
  15. Yeah, we have the 1040, but no IRA worksheets, no sched A, no Sch C, no Sch. D, no 2106, no 8879, no 8829, and no CA 540 or 540CA. Didn't check, but can we process an EIC return? Tom Hollister, CA
  16. I know it is you KC. Why do I have a little counter under my avitar that has "warning points" on it? What did I ever do to you? Did they tell you I was raising hell on the other board and ATX asked you to track me. I swear, I must be the most deleted poster ever on the other board. They have me on autodelete. Tom Hollister, CA
  17. No, there are all the forms in there, just two programs. ATX swears it is just because they did not get the payroll part done on time (I say Liar Liar, pants on fire!). What do I know. Maybe they did run out of time and just threw together a very simple payroll program and will integrate next year into the tax program. It is speculated by those who have watched CCH operate that next year, payroll forms will be charged separately. Tom Hollister, CA
  18. Actually, I got a call Friday night from a Support Supervisor that was very good. After looking at my setup, he discovered that the place where I was browsing to, while it said ATX 2011, was not really where the returns were. He found a file on the root of C drive (funny place for it) where the files actually were. Why the tax program knew to go to that file and the payroll program did not is still a mystery. Why those files are on the root of the C drive is also a mystery (stand alone install - accepted defaults when I loaded it). But it works right now, so I am good on this one. Tom Hollister, CA
  19. Where are you going for your update? I am going with Spidell again. Pretty much use them every year. Wish I would have known earlier (before I ordered my class on the 10th) and we could have met up at a seminar. Maybe next year (or maybe you don't want to meet up - you might prefer to stay a name on the board - which is ok as well). Anyone going to Spidell in San Ramon on the 10th? We can meet up and sit together at lunch if you wish. Tom Hollister, CA
  20. Customer service is an oxymoron with the emphasis on moron. They just send you to the kb where it says click on "other" for return type. I already did that before I contacted them. Tom Hollister, CA
  21. My tax program installed and the rollovers were right there including my 944 return. But none of my 1099 or W2 programs are in the rollover. Does yours show any of your 1099 or W2 returns?
  22. Yes. Right to ATX 2011. Thanks
  23. Got my software installed, downloaded the payroll module, and updated all the forms. But none of my Payroll returns show up in the rollover manager. Please don't tell me I have to go in and set up all those companies and employees again? Tom Hollister, CA
  24. Sorry about the mis information on K-1. I don't do a lot of that and never noticed it was a feature. I only have a couple and I just got used to entering the information directly from the K-1 I just printed. Tom Hollister, CA
  25. Glad to hear it all went well. I was worried about you. I could not go an entire year without being ripped by you (usually for good reason) for some stupid comment or question that I post on the board. Just like the crazy aunt that doesn't show up for Thanksgiving dinner, you would be very missed on this board Jainen. I am trully glad that it all worked out for you. I really do appreciate your presence on this board. Tom Hollister, CA
