Windows 8

Wendy, my Windows 8 upgrade is still in its shrink wrap. I am not going to risk unstable operating system this tax season. I am very happy with my windows XP pro and will keep it that way until the software forces me.

I had a very bad experience 3 years back when I listened to Microsoft and went to Vista. What a nighmare that was in the middle of tax season.

Thanks but I purchased a new computer and Windows 8 came installed on it. Trying to get all the programs installed and running is a pain.

In a very short time, you will develop deep hatred for Windows 8. Computer salespeople will tell you that the only option on a new computer is Windows 8. This is totally incorrect. Sticking with Windows 7 which has become a very stable operating system is an option.

Windows 8 is quite stable, but the UI (in my opinion) is just awful for desktop computing.

At this point, it's hard to tell if you're having trouble installing/running your software because of Windows 8, or because of the ATX software glitches... or maybe a combination of both.

Assuming you get the software issues out of the way, you'll still have to deal with all of the windows 8 interface changes.

If I had to get work done on a desktop computer running Windows 8, I'd buy something like this:

$5 is a small price to pay to keep your sanity.
